COMPREHENSION READING: Michael The Stubborn Boy
Micheal is a boy of twelve who never listened to his parent or the advice of his teachers. Micheal’s father is a hardworking farmer and always warned Micheal to stop playing with the sharp object but Micheal won’t listen.
He was always flogged by his teacher because of his stubbornness but it never changed Michael's attitude.
One day, Michael's father was about to leave for the farm when he decided to sharpen and clean his cutlass before taking it to the farm for use. While he was sharping, he decided to go inside and get his farm bag so he can get oil which he will use in greasing the cutlass.
While he went inside, Micheal came outside and saw the machete, so he picked it up and started playing with it incidentally, the machete cut Michael's arm, and blood started rushing out. Micheal couldn’t call his father or cry out loud because he was afraid his father would beat him. Blood started rushing out of the cut when his father came out, he rushed to meet Micheal who was already losing blood.
His father rushed Micheal to the hospital and the nurses started attending to him. The nurses started stitching which caused pain and Micheal cried but his father won’t listen to him because he knew his son was stubborn.
Micheal lost a lot of blood in the process and had to stay in the hospital to receive proper treatment. One day, when his father came to check him, Michael told his father that he will never be stubborn again because the machete incident as taught him never to be stubborn again.
