Vorarbeiten für den Sommer / Looking forward to the Summer [Ger/Eng]

Nur noch fünf Wochen bis zu den Eisheiligen (im Norden gilt: keine Pflanzen nach draußen vor der Kalten Sophie!) und wer die Pflanzen für Garten oder Balkon nicht kaufen möchte, der hat im März ausgesät. Auch bei mir sehen auf der Fensterbank im Schlafzimmer (Südseite, aber nicht zu warm) viele kleine Pflanzen dem Sommer entgegen.

Only five weeks left until the ice saints (rule of thumb in Northern Germany: no plants outside till after the Cold Sophie) and those who do not want to buy the plants for garden or balcony have sown in March. On my windowsill in the bedroom (south side, but not too warm) many small plants are waiting for the summer.

Tomaten: vorne drei Goldhahn (Früchte sind gelb + eher länglich, russische Sorte und robust); dahinter Cherokee Purple, eine alte dunkelrot/lila Fleischtomate.

Tomatoes: to the front three "Goldhahn", a Russian tomatoe named after a Pushkin story, with yellow fruits. Behind are two "Cherokee Purple" - a dark, beefsteak-style tomato, an old American sort.

Noch eine Tomate: Whippersnapper, eine Zwergtomate. Und das andere sind Paprika - ich versuche es mal wieder... Die Sorte heißt Hamik, gibt recht kleine orange Früchte.

Another tomatoe: "Whippersnapper", a mini tomatoe. Behind it bell peppers - I never have any luck with them. But I'll try it again this year, with "Hamik" - small, orange snack peppers :)

Und dann mache ich noch einen Test - bei Bekannten ging das im letzten Jahr ganz gut. Wassermelone! Zugegeben, eine Zwergwassermelone, maximal 1 kg schwer.

And this is another experiment: water melons! OK, dwarf melons - only up to one kilogram. Friends had a good yield with them last year. I'm curios whether they will grow.

Dazu habe ich noch Pflücksalat gesät und Radieschen, da ist noch nicht viel zu sehen und daher ohne Fotos :)

Other plants I've sown is loose leaf lettuce and radishes, not much to see there and so no photos :)
