Classic South Indian Breakfast - Poha

Poha is actually flattened rice. And today I shall share this super delicious breakfast recipe.

Let's get to cooking.

Ingredients:

  • Curry Leaves
  • Chopped Opinions
  • Chopped Chilli
  • Bit of Turmeric Powder
  • Sugar
  • Flattened Rice
  • Peanuts

Instructions:

  • In a Pan, heat oil and fry the peanuts and then keep it aside.
  • Now take oil and fry the curry leaves.
  • After it starts popping, add the onions.
  • Once golden, add the chillies and stir fry.
  • Now add a pinch of turmeric powder and stir well.
  • Add sugar to get a crunchy taste on the poha.
  • Once the masala is a bit fried, add the poha.
  • Mix well and add the fried peanuts.
  • Stir and cook for five minutes.

Perfect! Until today, I used to believe that Poha was an authentic dish of only Gujarat & M.P. :)

Really nice, I never knew that poha is also popular in South India. I believe it is a Maharashtrian Dish popular in North India only. Thanks for sharing your way of making Poha.
