Filipino Beef Steak

Filipino Beef steak is a dish cooked with soya sauce and lemon. The meat is thinly cut and is marinated with few ingredients. From the marination it creates a unique taste of tangy, salty and delicious in taste. There are varied ways to cook this dish, different methods per region.

But the main key is to marinate the meat for a few hours, it will be even more delicious when you consume it the next day.

Ingredients

Beef, 1 kilo, thinly sliced
Onion, cut in rings
Soya sauce, 1/2 cup
Water, 1 cup
Lemon juice
Bay leaves
Garlic, crushed and some diced
Onion powder, optional
Ground black pepper

Preparations

  1. Marinate the beef by combining all the ingredients. Let it marinate for a few hours or overnight.

  2. Preheat the pan and add oil. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for a few minutes. Set aside and Reserve the liquid from the marination for later use.

  3. Saute garlic in the same pan and Stir in the meat.

  4. Then, Add in the water and the liquid from the marination. Let it boil and simmer. Cover with lid and cook until half of the liquid evaporates.

  5. Add the Onion rings and mix.

  6. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.

  7. Serve with boiled rice.

I'm guessing you used the lemon in marinating right? So if there is no lemon maybe a calamansi will be fine as well?
