A Prison Of My Choosing

Today is Tuesday. On Tuesdays I go to a Business course held by Rexcel Training. It's a horrible place that exploits unemployed people and rips off the taxpayer at the same time.

Mutual Obligation

A long time ago, under the direction of Australia's former right wing conservative Prime Minister, John Howard set out a policy called 'mutual obligation'. The purpose was to take those on welfare and force them to work, often trade jobs, for their meager dole payments.

Don't we have unions for this sort of stuff?

They forced unrealistic job search quotas onto those people as well, the penalty being that the payments get suspended, rendering people potentially homeless or well below the poverty line if they don't comply. There's enough pressure on charity services as it is.

Imagine trying to not only survive, but find work under these conditions, all while the Government removed support for local manufacturing industries driving them overseas.

Both Rexcel Training and Jobs Statewide rip off the taxpayer to the tune of at least $3000 per person that they send on one of these 6 month long courses.

One time I caught them charging $3000 for a one day White Card construction safety course that's $99 elsewhere.

They also have a vending machine just to add insult to injury. Like they haven't been fleecing the most vulnerable enough.

So, I avoid that and go across the road at lunch time to the Churchill Road Snackbar.

There I can get an amazing Steak Sandwich with the lot.

The Steak Sandwich has, as the name implies, steak, but it also has bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato, between two toasted slices of white bread.

It's a small, mouth watering respite, a mental oasis if you will, from the prison of my own choosing.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. A long way to go to talk about a steak sandwich, I know. Chuckle.

But I missed writing posts here.

I hope you're doing well. Let me know in the comments.

Until next time,

See you in the kitchen!

No beetroot? There's an employment opportunity right there. I'll work at your sandwich bar and make them properly.

LMAO. I think they have beetroot available, but like most things these days they'd probably charge extra.

That steak sandwich looks good indeed. If I read this I can only say it's not different from here. More and more live under the poverty line. In the future it will only get worse. I hope you manage 💖🍀

I hope to generate enough Hive so that it’s no longer a problem. But yeah, things are rough.
