The Lunch Menu of The Day: Ayam Bawang Es Teler 77

We arrived in Medan City yesterday and stay at Cambridge Hotel at S. Parman Street. Medan is the third biggest city in Indonesia, which is located in North Sumatra Province of Indonesia. We would doing some shopping here, and for sure to have culinary experience that I might be sharing in Foodies Bee Hive community. Today, we have lunch at Es Teler 77 Restaurant at Medan Fair Plaza. The main menu is Nasi Ayam Bawang, a spicy chicken rice with chili-onion condiment.

The condiment is so spicy. I think not everyone might tolerate to the condiment. I was struggling to finish my dish. It’s not the first time I taste Nasi Ayam Bawang, but I still look like a newbie to taste a spicy food.I could do nothing there, it was so hot, but I should finish the dish. No, I truly like spicy food.

First of all, let’s look the list of menu. Es Teler 77 Restaurant was established in Jakarta, 1982. The name is a reference to a popular Indonesian dessert drink, es teler. The restaurant was founded by Sukyatno Nugroho, a Chinese Indonesian also known as Hoo Tjioe Kiat.wiki They have a long list of dish in their menu book, from a simple chicken noodle to most spicy food like nasi Ayam bawang. Actually, I would love to order fried duck with green-chili condiment, but it was running out already. It might be the favorite dish.

The service is so quick. After paying the bill, they did so fast to prepare our order. For the lunch, we ordered nasi Ayam bawang, special chicken noodle, special fried rice and “es teler”. Es teler is firstly prepared.

Es teler is an Indonesian dessert drink. And Es teler by this restaurant is so special. They have a secret liquid ingredient added to the normal content of Es Teler like avocado, green coconut, and flesh of jackfruit. The secret liquid makes the taste of their Es teler unforgettable, tasty, and delivering something so addictive. It penetrates our memory to save the taste in our brand. Then, we might confess that the most delicious Es Teler is by Es Teler 77!. So, be prepared before you taste the Es Teler for the first ever time in your life.

Finishing my order, I just went back to our seat. It’s a cozy restaurant that is located at the second floor of Medan Fair Mall in Medan City. Not so many guests this afternoon. Since Covid-19 Pandemic hit the world, visitors of malls are decreased sharply.

Nasi Ayam Bawang and chicken noodle were ready, and served already on our table. My kids love so much the menus. My daughter ordered chicken noodle with meatballs included as well, while my sone prefer Nasi Ayam Bawang.

They looked so enjoying their dishes. I don’t expect my son to tolerate the spicy food since it’s not really good the health of stomach. As I know that, in the long run, the spicy food may cause some problem with our gaster to cause gastritis or GERD, or at least dyspepsia syndrome.
