Sabor, lluvia y familia: Un refugio lleno de sazón/ Flavor, Rain, and Family: A Shelter Full of Zest. [ESP-ENG]

La noche de ayer estuvo marcada por un solo protagonista: la lluvia. Teníamos planeado arrancar nuestra jornada a las 6 de la tarde, pero el clima tenía sus propios planes. Entre el agua que no daba tregua y los ajustes necesarios, terminamos iniciando nuestro servicio cerca de las 7 de la noche.
Es que fue en día demasiado lluvioso que hizo que nos retrasaramos.

Last night, the night was dominated by one main character: the rain. We had planned to start our shift at 6:00 p.m., but the weather had other plans. Between the relentless downpour and the adjustments we had to make, we ended up starting our service closer to 7:00 p.m. It was just such a rainy day that it really set us back.

La lluvia fue tan intensa y persistente que nuestro espacio habitual quedó completamente mojado. Nos quedamos esperando a ver si la lluvia cesaba, sin embargo al darnos cuenta que era cada vez más persistente tuvimos que elegir el plan B, ya que no podíamos quedarnos parados.

The rain was so intense and persistent that our usual workspace was completely soaked. We waited a while to see if it would let up, but once we realized it was only getting stronger, we had to go with 'Plan B'—we couldn't just stand around doing nothing.

Cerca de las 7:00 p.m., nos trasladamos a una partecita techada que tenemos, que es la entrada de la casa, un espacio donde podíamos resguardarnos de la lluvia y que no se detuvieran las ventas. Así que que cada vez que llueve tenemos que adaptarnos a ese espacio bastante pequeño y quedamos "apretaditos", moviéndonos con cuidado para que el servicio no se detuviera y que no resultara tan incómodo, ni para nosotros y tampoco para los clientes.

Around 7:00 p.m., we moved to a small covered area we have at the entrance of our home. It’s a space where we can take shelter from the rain so that sales don't come to a halt. Whenever it rains, we have to adapt to that very small space, and we end up feeling a bit 'cramped'—moving around carefully so that the service doesn't stop and it doesn't become uncomfortable, neither for us nor for our customers.

Fue un momento de calma mientras esperábamos a los clientes: ahí estábamos todos, como equipo y familia, esperando el momento indicado. Mientras yo me dedicaba a anotar y organizar los pendientes, mis familiares con quienes trabajo aprovechaban para revisar el teléfono o simplemente descansar, mientras escuchábamos unas adoraciones.

​It was a moment of calm while we waited for our customers. There we all were—family and team—waiting for the right moment. While I focused on taking notes and organizing our tasks, my relatives, who I work alongside, took the opportunity to check their phones or simply rest, all while we listened to some worship music.

Les cuento que a pesar de que el espacio es pequeño muchos clientes de igual forma prefirieron comer allí porque les encanta ellos mismos poder echarse las salsas su gusto jajaja.
Yo me encargaba de coordinar cada pedido y llevar las cuentas, asegurándome de que, a pesar de la falta de espacio y el ruido de la lluvia, todo saliera con la calidad de siempre.

I have to say that even though the space was small, many customers still preferred to eat there because they love being able to add as much sauce as they want—haha! As for me, I was in charge of coordinating every order and handling the accounts, making sure that despite the lack of space and the noise of the rain, everything came out with the same high quality as always.

Mi compadre, que es el encargado de la plancha, se puso manos a la obra con una energía increíble. Se concentró totalmente en los pedidos: hamburguesas especiales que se veían espectaculares. Esas son mis favoritas, aunque también las empanadas me gustan mucho, sobre todo la de pabellón.

My 'compadre,' who is in charge of the grill, got straight to work with incredible energy. He was totally focused on the orders: special burgers that looked spectacular. Those are my absolute favorites, although I also really love the empanadas, especially the 'pabellón' one.

Es gratificante ver cómo frente a las complicaciones, nos adaptamos. A veces la gente solo ve el producto final servido en el plato, pero detrás hay todo un esfuerzo y mucho corazón puesto en cada ingrediente.

It is rewarding to see how we adapt to complications. Sometimes people only see the final product on the plate, but behind it, there is a lot of effort and heart put into every ingredient.

Además, para cerrar con broche de oro, también salieron unas empanaditas de carne mechada, pensadas especialmente para los niños que nos visitaron, haciendo que todos en la familia se fueran con la barriga llena y el corazón contento. 🤭

Furthermore, to top it all off, we also served some small shredded beef empanadas, specially prepared for the children who visited us, making sure that everyone in the family left with a full belly and a happy heart. 🤭

Para los padres no podía faltar las Cordon Bleu, que son las empanadas más grandes que ofrecemos y son las más ricas porque el jamón y el queso le dan ese toque especial:

For the parents, we couldn't leave out the Cordon Bleu, which are the largest empanadas we offer. They are the tastiest ones because the ham and cheese give them that special touch.

Terminamos nuestra jornada cerca de las 11:00 p.m., cansados pero agradecidos. Más allá de las ventas, le doy gracias a Dios por la oportunidad de trabajar en familia y por cada cliente que nos eligió a pesar de la lluvia.

We wrapped up our shift around 11:00 p.m., tired but grateful. Beyond the sales, I thank God for the opportunity to work as a family and for every customer who chose us despite the rain.

Ubicación: Este lugar se encuentra en Venezuela, en la ciudad de Maturín... Los costos de las empanadas grandes son a 3 $ y el combo de empanadas pequeñas 2$ e icluye un vasito de refresco.
En cuánto al precio de las hamburguesas éstas varían: Tenemos hamburguesas sencillas a 4$, especiales a 5$, de pollo 6$ y hamburguesas triples a 7,5$.
