Friday Cooking Contest: Guasacaca with tomatoes

Avocados harvest

In the months of July and August we can harvest avocados in the whole country. It is a time to eat lots of them because they are very cheap, and there are many people who give them to friends because they have trees in their back yard. You can find avocados during all year, but the cheapest ones are from July and August.

We have all kind of avocados, and it is a daily food on our tables. We eat them with arepas, salads, bread, and prepared in dips called guasacacas. This time I am going to prepare my guacaca con tomatoes and hot chilies, but you can use many things to prepare guasacaca.

Ingredients:

  • 1 big avocado
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 hot chillies
  • coriander leaves
  • salt
  • 1/4 cup of vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil

Preparation:

Place the avocado in a bowl
Smash with a fork
Add 2 tablespoon of olive oil
Add the vinegar and mix


Cut the tomatoes, chilies and onions


Add the vegetables to the avocados
Adjust the salt and the vinegar


This meal was my breakfast today, guasacaca with arepas.
