My Mother's Day Celebration Banquet

Last Sunday was celebrated in many countries Mother's Day, a special day to celebrate and honor the person who gave us life, it is a day to pamper mom and thank her for her unconditional love and devotion.

Generally, on this day, we celebrate mom in many ways, with flowers, gifts, and of course, with good food, it is a propitious moment to delight her palate with the most exquisite dishes.

I have the joy and blessing of celebrating Mother's Day to honor my beautiful mother, but also to be honored by my own children, who every year go to great lengths to make this day my special day...this year they spoiled me with the following menu:

El pasado domingo se celebró en muchos países el Día de las Madres, un día especial para festejar y honrar al ser que nos dio la vida, es un día para consentir a mamá y darle gracias por su amor y entrega incondicional.

Generalmente este día agasajamos a mamá de muchas maneras, con flores, regalos, y por supuesto, con buena comida, es un momento propicio para deleitar su paladar con los más exquisitos platillos.

Yo tengo la dicha y la bendición de celebrar el día de la madre para honrar a mi bella madre, pero también de ser homenajeada por mis propios hijos, que cada año se esmeran en atenciones para hacer de este día, mi día especial...este año ellos me consintieron con el siguiente menú:

A delicious and colorful breakfast kicked off this celebration; my youngest son (7 years old) prepared a fresh fruit salad with banana, mandarin oranges, papaya, guava, watermelon, and mango. My daughter and my husband surprised me with some delicious cachitos (rolls filled with smoked ham) that they baked first thing in the morning, perfuming the kitchen with the magical aroma of freshly baked bread. Of course, a good cup of coffee was a must.

Un delicioso y colorido desayuno dio inicio a esta celebración; mi hijo menor (de 7 años) preparó una fresca ensalada de frutas con cambur, mandarinas, lechosa, guayaba, sandía y mango. Por su parte, mi hija y mi esposo me sorprendieron con unos deliciosos cachitos de jamón (panecillos rellenos de jamón ahumado) que hornearon a primera hora de la mañana, perfumando de la cocina de ese mágico aroma a pan recién horneado. Por supuesto, no podía faltar una buena taza de café.

When it was time for lunch, Mediterranean gastronomy was present at our table.

At home, we are fans of Arabian food and I must thank my husband for taking care of every detail in the preparation of these dishes that were magnificent. Skewers of grilled meat and chicken seasoned with Arabian spices and with that characteristic touch of charcoal smoking, tabbouleh salad with a perfectly hydrated grain of wheat and with the exact point of acidity.

Even when they didn't want to let me do anything, I joined in the cooking and prepared a delicious chickpea cream served with a little cumin and olive oil.

All this accompanied by toasted pita bread...delicious.

Llegada la hora del almuerzo, la gastronomía mediterránea se hizo presente en nuestra mesa.

En casa somos fanáticos de la comida árabe y debo agradecer a mi esposo por cuidar cada detalle en la elaboración de estos platillos que estuvieron magníficos. Pinchos de carne y pollo a la parrilla condimentos con especias árabes y con ese toque característico del ahumado a carbón, ensalada tabulé con un trigo perfectamente hidratado y con el punto exacto de acidez.

Aún y cuando no querían dejarme hacer nada, me uní a cocinar y preparé una deliciosa crema de garbanzos servida con un poco de comino y aceite de oliva.

Todo esto acompañado con pan de pita tostado...delicioso.

Of course, all celebrations entail a toast to the joy of being with family, in good health, and always united, so we drank Kriek beer, which is a beer brewed with sour cherries. Undoubtedly an excellent choice to accompany our menu.

Por supuesto, toda celebración conlleva a un brindis por la dicha de estar en familia, con salud y siempre unidos, así que tomamos cerveza Kriek, que es una cerveza elaborada a base de cerezas agrias. Sin duda una excelente elección para acompañar nuestro menú.

I must say that the dessert was a pleasant surprise because my daughter made it with her dad, they made my chocolate brownie recipe, the result was great. Simply delicious.

Debo decir que el postre fue una grata sorpresa, porque lo hizo mi hija con su papá, hicieron mi receta de brownie de chocolate, el resultado fue estupendo. Sencillamente delicioso.

And that's how my gastronomic mother's day went 😂😉

This looks like a wonderful Mother's Day meal! I particularly like this kabobs and tabbouleh salad. I usually focus on the sweet part of the meal...I love brownies...but your family put together a great feast. Can you tell me what Arabian spices were used on the meat?

There is an Arab spice called 7 spices, which contains cumin, pepper, cinnamon, and others, this spice is perfect for meat.
