Angwamu is a popular Ghanaian dish which is simple to prepare. It’s often seen as bachelors food because it’s easily prepared. I had some for lunch and wanna share with you.

You slice one large onion 🧅 or two small ones in a pot. You pour about 50ml of oil into the pot. You put it on fire 🔥. When the onions are crispy, you add 4 cups of water 💧 and wait for it to boil.

In Ghana, most people wash/rinse rice before cooking but if you don’t do that where you are from, you can skip this part. You fetch 2 cups of rice 🍚 into a bowl. You had enough water to wash it. The rice will go below and the water will be above. Pour away the water when done.

Fetch the washed rice into the boiling water. Add enough salt and stir. After 20 minutes, your angwa mu/braised rice is ready.

I fried an egg to eat with mine, but you can decide to use meat, fish or any other thing. You can decide to add stew too, but mine was just the angwa mu and fried egg.
