The 2nd Package 😍 --or-- Everything is Better With Syrup

If you had read my promo of getting @leiatalon's new book, then you may have noticed I said a few things were received in the mail that day. The second package, was from my sister - @snook! I have been anticipating and excited to get this one as I knew it was coming and would kick ass.

You see, I grew up in the North. As a child, I remember tapping the maple trees when the sap started to 'run' and put little trowels on them. Below the 'drippers', we would put a bucket or basin of some kind, to collect the sap. Once the tap was starting to get slow or 'dry' - generally a few days - we would collect the buckets and bins. The families would then pool their sap and the boiling would start. You could smell it across the entire reservation and we all knew the yumminess that was to be soon had.

I haven't smelled or tasted real maple syrup in 2 decades. The rez is a shithole. Like any hood you've ever been to with the crime and bullshit attached. Plus, it's witch-titty cold up there! That's why it's been so long. It's one of those places you don't want to go back to. But, during maple season, everyone was calm and I did like the unity it brought from and to all the clans.

The only question a few nights ago was, waffles or pancakes? I wanted waffles, but the girls opted for pancakes and there is no arguing with a platoon of princesses. I cheffed up some pork chops, hashbrowns, eggs and of course - pancakes. I took my time pouring the maple syrup on the pancakes (after I took an actual sip from the jar). The consistency was perfect as you can see the thickness from the fork up there as it clung to every tine.

Gotdang delicious Snookie! Well done. I think time almost stopped for a few seconds as a thousand memories and even my first disk of maple candy was being tasted in my brain. It didn't take me long to finish the pancake and smear the syrup into and on everything else. Some of my cousins put ketchup on everything, right? I was the kid with a plate full of syrup.

Plate cleaned, belly full, very satisfied. I bought some maple syrup from the store about a month ago. It had a bitter aftertaste and was all runny like barely cooked sunny side up eggs. The syrup I got this week, ermagerdz, heavenly. If you roll it around in your mouth like a fine wine, you can feel the iddy biddy sugar crystals melting on your tongue in your slow savory bite. MMMMMMMMM. πŸ˜‹πŸ½

What's That? A Bonus??

I don't own a lot of art, but absolutely love what I do have. 99% of it is from the hands of my children. But now, I have this kickass one from Sis! I loved it when she first did it and now I have it. My 'Franken-Stein'. Reflects my life of things falling apart and being sewn back together bwahahahaaa! Check out where I put it:

Right behind me as I write this in my office. I hope you enjoyed my dinner! 😜 Oh hey, that contest I did where Hive turned one ends today and I'll be going through and picking a winner so stay tuned for that! I also have some 'Freya is 4' pictures coming that should make you smile. Whatever you do out there, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even while stuffing my face!

Hi @enginewitty You are so wrong for that syrup. Reminds me of my mom's canning each summer after we'd go berry pickin'. She made my favorite strawberry syrup. Often, we'd eat half of the berries by the time we got home. And we didn't even have to wash them off! Image that. What fun and memories. And I'll not even mention the plate-size pancake. It's hard enough trying to stay focused on my B.I.S.S. healthy sandwich for lunch, lol.

However, all is forgiven once I scrolled down to find out you PIMPed my Alien Art Hive post. Thanks much for the Community support. I appreciate it.

Have a good start to your weekend. Take care.

Maybe we can have some imported over there somehow. Maybe we do a Hive specific batch and you can have exclusive rights to sell it? Just a thought 😁

Homemade maple syrup is the bombπŸ’£. One of my friends growing up father owned a small ski resort in Vermont and he used to tap trees and make it. You need a lot of liquid to boil down to make syrup it’s like a 5 or 6 to 1 ratio i think. Either way great package. Enjoy

Wow, now that sounds/looks good. Occasionally I'll pay the premium to buy what claims to be 100% maple syrup. I'm so much better than the standard supermarket stuff. But to have pure homemade maple syrup... sounds amazing. I'd love to try someday. I hope you guys really enjoyed it. Nice art from your sister too!

Thank you for the mention and support. I appreciate this.

I have never tasted Marple syrup but from the books I have read it must be something to rave about. Is it like honey?

Maybe you can turn the artwork into an NFT. I hear it's all the craze now. Who knows how much five to ten cards can get you?

Once again thanks for pimping my post.

It is similar to honey, very thick and has a slight grit and deep flavor that lasts all the way past the bite.
