Indonesian Food: Crispy Fried Chicken and Lodeh, plus the history behind

Hello, friends especially foodies!

Today i would like to share about the lunch we ordered on Sunday. On Sunday, i ordered Indonesian crispy fried chicken which was well known for decades and also for the vegetables, i ordered lodeh. And now i would like to share a brief history about lodeh. Lodeh was an authentic traditional Central Java food. It appeared in ancient Java, that era, there was a big disease in Java so the ancestor, king asked all of the people only to eat 49 days with lodeh and rice. Lodeh itself was quite simple to cook, it consisted of 7 kind of vegetables as main ingredients boiled in coconut milk with a bit spicy flavour. Lodeh was created to cast the disease away which was successful that time.

Now enough with the history, back to our lunch. I ordered and paid, lucky me, there was some off discount. I paid 90,464 IDR or around 6.24 USD for the chicken and lodeh plus rice.

The taste

Crispy chicken was their speciality. It had savory crunchy crispy and skin while inside the chicken was soft and savory so tasty. It was always served with sweet spicy sambal (chilli paste). Irresistible!

Lodeh was also their speciality. No wonder it tasted so perfect with sweet, savory and a bit spicy flavour. A must try menu in Indonesia!
