The Natural Healing Prowess of Jackfruit

Greetings my Hive friends and to everyone out there! It has been a busy day for me with my gardening tasks. You know, I transferred some sturdy plant sprouts for my bonsai project for the day. As I went to our backyard, I smelt a distinctive odor. I know then that one of our jackfruits is ready for harvest! I've waited for this moment since last year was a disaster.

I've managed to wrap the lower portion but the upper ones were all rotten. Sigh.... Anyways here's my first good harvest. Jackfruit is common in my Homeland and it's my favorite next to Durian.

Best For Deworming:

  • I can still remember when we were kids, when my granny would let us small kids gather for a little picnic in our lawn with a bunch of sliced jackfruit! How we enjoyed our little feast, to find out later that it was the natural way of deworming process! Lol! So that was it.

Such practice was handed down to us, in which I did the same to my 5 kids. Well, they all grew up without undergoing the synthetic process of deworming. Here are other natural medicinal attributes of jackfruit.

Benefits:

  • It is said that eating a cup of jackfruit may help reduce the bad cholesterol levels in our body.
  • It is rich in potassium which is beneficial to lower blood pressure, though it is not advisable for those with kidney deficiency so take note on that as well.
  • It has certain substances, otherwise known as phytochemicals with antioxidant properties. This means that it could help counter the damaging effects of these free radicals in our body.
  • Like any other fruits, it is rich in vitamin C that could help for faster healing of wounds.

Summing it all, jackfruit is a unique and nutritious fruit. You just need to be careful with the latex when opening the outer cover as it could cause some allergies to the sensitive skin. To avoid this, rub the latex with the pulp at the center of the fruit.

That's all for now guys, I hope you learned something after reading my post.

Thanks to the people behind this awesome community. It could save lives especially those who can't afford to go the hospital. Prevention is better than cure.

Keep safe everyone!

Till then,

@Sarimanok

We used to boil the seeds to soften it, then eat it like a kind of nut, dipping it in salt

Hmm better put salt while boiling it. All you need to do is peel and eat.

Yeah, you should try it esp the deworming stuff. It's effective. Actually, there's another technique done by farmers when they step on the rice paddies. They would carry along with them some jackfruits in their pockets. The reason is that leeches won't stick on their feet. I guess it's because of the strong odor of the fruit. How much more if you have it inside your stomach? Lol!
