Hello everyone! After the heavy rain, here comes the signs of Summer heat! I ended up with toothache in my front teeth! Ouch! Granny me still experience that guys! I thought of having it removed though daughter said I could have the decay cleaned and let the dentist do the rest. My manicurist told me (she was cleaning my feet) that she had the same problem. Her friend told her to look for betel nut because it will help relieve the pain of her toothache.

This kind of natural treatment in using betel nuts has been used since time immemorial by our ancestors. It only means that it was handed down from generation to generation.

Natural Medicinal Benefits of Betel Nuts

• For prevention of Toothache and Swelling of Gums, dry and cracked lips, and stained teeth due to coffee and smoking.

It is said that Betel Nut prevents cavity formation of the tooth that could destroy the structures of the outer covering of the tooth called enamel caused by harmful bacterias. This will tend to cause inflammation of the gums as well.

Once the gums swell, the tendency is that you feel dryness in your mouth causing the lips to crack that could also cause bad breath. These deficiencies can be prevented if you do quid chewing. The reason is that quid chewing causes one to salivate that will hinder all of the above mouth problems. It will also aid your digestive system.

The good thing is that betel nuts can help eradicate tooth stains due to excessive drinking of coffee and smoking. All you need to do is have the betel nuts charred and pulverized. Apply and rub on your tooth. Using this will help whiten your teeth and will serve as your ego booster. Gone are the insecurities!

The Quid

The Quid is a whole package which is composed of betel leaf, areca nuts, tobacco leaf and lime. All of which are chewed one by one until all are chewed. Other effects include increase of appetite, alertness, stamina and euphoria.

Betel Nut can be dried, roasted or boiled. For medicinal purposes, it should be taken in mild dose only to achieve the right efficacy.

Prevents Muscle Cramps in Women

For those who are aware of this, the women take Betel Nuts before or during their menstrual period to lessen muscle cramps.

Study shows that it will help cure hormonal imbalance in women which could cause yellowish discharge. This deficiency is called Leucorrhea or Estrogen Imbalance.

*it is said that the use of Betel Nuts can help aid temporary ejaculation in men that could result to impotency. Taking betel nuts may increase sexual performance among men.

Safety Precautions

With all of the above-mentioned, it is still best to know when and when not to take betel nuts. First, pregnant women should not indulge in this because it could hurt the fetus. If you are under medication, it is best to consult your doctor for safety measures.

In short, betel nuts are used to maintain the goodness in us and maintain the equilibrium in our body and not the other way around.

This is all for now, thanks to @naturalmedicine for this awesome community and thanking you all for dropping my page.

Keep safe everyone!

Till then,

I had no idea it was so beneficial!!! I just knew it stains teeth and people spit it out on the street. You are so right about balance when we use medicinal plants.. too much can be dangerous.

Hello! You're right. We often see them among the elders because they know its benefits. I was even amazed when a younger lady, so beautiful too, said that she's using it. I will dig more on the benefits of each of them.

Right use and dosage is a must especially in using herbs and natural medicine because they have stronger effects than those synthetic medicines.

Thank you for gracing my page. Have a nice day ahead!

I love to learn about natural remedies that are local. I have not heard of these Betel nuts, so I am super grateful for you sharing this popular remedy, it is so important that we hold onto this information and how great that it is now here on the blockchain. So important also to highlight the importance of only taking what is needed as well, and that it is not suitable for everyone xxx

This is cool, I don’t know if I’ve heard of the nut but it sounds like it’s a really powerful one when it comes to our oral health. The key is moderation of course! A topic I will be writing about here soon, moderation is so important!
