Feeling gratitude this morning and just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year 🌠

Yesterday evening I went apple picking with @opidia and it was great to remind myself why I love this region so much. There is an abundance of free food all year long for those who feel inclined to seek it out and pick it. These apples were apparently too small to be sold in the shops.

Earlier in the evening Esteban continued his paint by numbers kit (great idea for a present mum!)

Later in the evening we went to a friend's house in the village to enjoy some cozy drinks with them.

This room has a really unique feeling for me.

Sitting back in the sofa with my feet up on that table, ohhhh it was good :)

Obviously we brought a cat with us too!

I am deeply grateful to those around me here who make the effort to communicate with me in English, even if just a little bit. French is coming but it is not coming quickly while my primary focus remains elsewhere.

Luna didn't make it to midnight and we found her asleep next to the fire.

It was decided in the end that we should move her to a less hot sofa.

Here she slept soundly till it was time to leave.

We saw in the new year under the stars on their terrace. There is no light pollution on this particular side of the village and I was blown away by the clarity and mildness of the night air. Orion's Belt was so very beautiful and poignant, rich with connections & memories. While the Pleiades seemed more playful than usual, pulsing and flickering beneath the vast ocean above us.

Walking back through our sleepy village at 2am with Luna in my arms I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me, smiling as I passed @opidia's house, smiling as I imagined all the other wonderful people who have arrived in my life this year, smiling as I imagined once again the great future I have become so accustomed to imagining.

Thank you to one and all who are contributing to this most splendid journey!

Right... today I will be turning this lot into apple cider vinegar :)

They really are tasty! And being miniature, kids love 'em ;)

Happy new calendar my friend. That's actually a cool way to say it, coz years don't really end or begin at all do they. And not for one moment by the way do I believe we are actually in the year 2022! But that's for a separate post on the subject...

This was such a delightful post to read, those tiny apples are too cute and I love the rustic walls of your friend's house, it did look very cozy and snug.
