If you are not familiar with Tobacco cultivation then the whole process would seem next-level experience for you. The smell of the leaves, the farming process, the after processing; everything is so different from other crops. But as a native, more or less we all know about the process.

Today, let me share my recent experience to visit the tobacco field!

A few days ago, I have shared that I visited a riverside area near my hometown. This place used to be a river actually. Yeah, the sandy field where farming is happening will become a river during the upcoming rainy season. But now, as the river dries out so farmers took advantage. They are cultivating different crops as well as tobacco.

I added the exact location on Pinmapple, so you can take a look.

You may wonder thinking, why people produce tobacco; if there is any benefit or not. You may know about the socio-economic status of Bangladesh. The farmers sometimes become bound to cultivate tobacco. They get aid from tobacco companies so you can understand this is like a chain.

Though there are many health risks of cultivating tobacco, especially the drying process and the unbearable smell would make you uncomfortable; but money makes people do everything. Because money talks!

The drying process

As you can see, the whole area of the river is covered by tobacco farming. Not just that, you will get to see tobacco fields almost everywhere if you visit the northern part of Bangladesh. And for your info, Bangladesh is also the largest tobacco-growing country. Nope, I'm not proud of that.

There are many NGOs and governments also trying to reduce and discourage the farmers to grow tobacco. But as I was saying, money talks. So it's not easy. But as per my experience, tobacco cultivation reduces a lot compared to the past.

I wish someday, people will give up tobacco addiction and farmers don't have to cultivate this anymore!
