Lotus Garden Newsletter for Homesteaders. 6th May 2020

As I sit here compiling the newsletter this week, I have two cheeky 2.5 week old chicks snoozing on my arm. I'd show you a photo, but I'm too embarrassed about the mess in the background. Yes, things get the better of us all at times and let's have a show of hands from those homesteaders who end up with livestock in the house for one reason or another. Life doesn't always go smoothly, but we deal with it as we can, especially when we know it's worth it in the end. There are some features this week which touch on this.

Things happening in the community.

The Community Garden Journal Challenge for April is in full swing and hopefully you can squeeze in an entry before the close. If not, don't worry, it's ongoing and you can keep an eye on @simplymike's page for the next one.

Ever wondered why the @naturalmedicine community is such a bustling, thriving community? Perhaps this week's Proof of Heart, Proof of Brain post will answer that question for you. There are really only two rules for the community and they are to be kind and be genuine. The current positive vibes challenge also illustrates well what the community is all about.

Some highlights of the week

@thebigsweed has been trying to get the hop plants back to their former glory after some neglect. As he details what he's doing he intersperses with lot's of interesting facts on them and how they are useful medicinally.

As a special treat, @arrliinn brings us a story and a cake in one! This has to be the most fun recipe I've ever read.

@flemingfarm shares what they've been up to on the homestead lately and it includes a rather clever pest solution being released.

I do love a recycling and re-purposing project and @cassidydawn has been doing just that. She's turned an old fleece blanket into a hoodie using a bit of ingenuity when she couldn't find a suitable pattern.

Each week one of our featured authors will be selected to be a 5% beneficiary of The Lotus Garden newsletter. This week @thebigsweed will receive this award.

Thank you for stopping by. This week's newsletter was brought to you by @minismallholding.

Thank you @naturalmedicine for the feature and @minismallholding, for visiting my post. I try to put on a different light to my recipe articles as much as possible, so they don't get too boring. 🙂
