Garden update - The Papaya Tree is rotting (June 25, 2021)
I haven't had an update in over a week. But I’m here again to share what’s going on in my little Vegetable Garden.
On June 15, 2021, I harvested papaya due to the poor condition of a tree. The three remaining trees were fine, but this one looked like I had overdosed on water so the root drowned and softened and rotted.
All is well, I just don't really expect him to rot like this? I will show on my next blog on what happened to one of my Papaya trees. The 4 Papayas I picked were not quite big but enough to make ATSARA and incorporate into the cooked chicken called TINOLA in the Philippines.
This is what happened to the Papaya Tree
Gradually the leaves wither and turn yellow to brown. I remember that the bottom of the tree was pure crushed leaves that hadn’t rotted too much. So when watered it softens easily and gradually rots, especially since only 5% of the soil I put on the crushed leaves.
At first I thought it was because of the sunlight that the papaya leaves were dying and drying out, but that was because I used crushed leaves that didn't rot too much before planting.
However, I was able to harvest 4 Papayas on one tree. I'm just waiting for the whole body of the papaya to rot so that I can find out the cause of the tree's death. Because the underside of the tree will soften and the tree will tilt slightly, meaning it will be soft to pull out.
When I harvested 4 papaya fruits, I left 2 small fruits so that I would know how long the tree would last with the fruit. It can grow or ripen on the tree even when the fruit is small.
These are the 4 fruits I picked. It’s only in medium size and not quite really big yet. But the 3 trees left bear good fruit and continue to grow gradually.
My next papaya update we will see what happened to the tree and its roots. Because now the tree is tilted and it is easy to pull the tree out of the ground without having to dig further.

Sorry to hear that your Papaya tree got sick before bringing all fruits... I didn't know that you can "investigate" it and find the reason for its rotting... But, it's good to know that you can prevent it from happening in the future...

I will find out later the main problem. I think I was right in my suspicion.
Maybe you should transplant into better prepared soil for next season? At least you for something, hope next season comes more abundant!

I'm sorry your papaya tree has rotted, I hope the other three can grow big and strong, and bear beautiful fruit. Those papayas look delicious, to make sweet with them. Greetings.
What you told before was right. Later I will pull out the tree. Let see the main problem.
Sorry to hear about one papaya tree. It’s sad that the tree will die but you still have 3 others for rest of the season.
Hope you will cook delicious meal with harvested papaya and enjoy it.
