In 2016, when I had the accident on the bus where I was traveling with my son to Colombia, it was the year where my spiritual fiber was touched. The feeling of fear washed over us and something about human made me take it easy.

The last thing I remember is that the bus was rocking and from there I didn't know anything else until my son woke me up. About half an hour passed, I don't know if I had a mystical experience because it was all very confusing.

From that moment, a strange tranquility enveloped me, I took everything calmly, despite my two injuries; head and jaw, nothing hurt. When I spoke with my daughters, I calmed them down and from there injected them with that peace and tranquility that radiated to me.

When they operated on me, to close my head wound (I don't know how many stitches there were, but there were many) I remembered that you had to think of something that you really liked to calm your nerves, so I thought of a beach, with its water serene and its white sand. I immediately fell asleep and when I woke up I was already recovered from the operation.

When we arrived in Bogotá we sat down to talk about the accident and that is when we began to feel that need to attend a church to thank the joy of being born again, it was when I realized that I could have died, but as I always say : it was not my day.

We attended a Christian church, where every Sunday we hugged each other to cry remembering the episode. But at the same time we appreciated being alive and being able to be there telling the story. At 6 months I told my son that I would be baptized and he told me that he would do the same, not only to support me, but also out of gratitude. We were the only two people who were baptized that day.

To my greatest surprise, that spirituality had transcended borders, when my daughter told me: This Saturday we were baptized too. My daughter, her husband, and my eldest daughter had also been baptized for the same reason: Be thankful for the second chance.

We all think the same, thank you. Be grateful to something that helped us not only save my life and that of my son in that accident, it helped us to unite more as a family. The accident moved something internally to all of us that made us look for a way to channel all those feelings towards a gratitude towards a greater force that protected us from a fatal event.
