Don't be scared! The monster I am going to tell you about is very big but it is not scary and it gives me tasty but tart fruits. This is nothing more than my passion fruit plant!

Why do I call it a monster, you may ask? The truth is that it is nothing but a monster, except for the fact that it has taken over almost half of my orchard hahaha. You see, 2 years ago I planted several passion fruit plants of which only 2 grew. They developed and began to give flowers but out of all of them, only 1 passion fruit came out, at that time I was still very inexperienced in this planting and I had no idea how the process was to obtain fruits from a plant. After a while they started to dry out and become ugly, so I decided to prune them completely leaving only the base of the stems. To my surprise after a while they started to sprout and I said "well, I'll leave it alone to see how it gets" and that's how this little plant grew and grew. Between my partner and I we placed some grids in the shape of a little hut so that the plant would have a place to get entangled. Then I started investigating more about this crop and its requirements. Then I understood that if I wanted more fruit I had to plant more flowers to attract pollinating insects, I learned that the plant needed more fertilizer and more nutrients and so I gradually managed to make that little sprout that I thought would not survive, which was severely affected by caterpillars, become the monster it is today.

Pobre palmita jeje. | Poor palm plant hehe.

Logically, I thought that a couple of grids would be enough for it, but the plant had other plans. It started tangling itself in the palm on one side, and from there it began to climb the leaves of the coconut tree. I tied it to the window grill and to a male papaya plant on the other side and even so, I have had to remove it from several plants because if I am careless it will stay on top of all of them and even on the ground

Although it is the rebellious daughter of the orchard, you have no idea of the immense happiness I felt when I started to see the first flowers open, the flower is beautiful and it is a spectacle to see them and their aroma is sweet and delicious. I loved them so much that I started to watch all the buds I saw so I could see the flowers, and also help a little in their pollination.

I find it really fascinating to observe how the flower is forming and from there the fruit, it is really beautiful, so I made a gif compiling several photos I took of the flowers and fruits at different stages of their growth.

This little monster has been bearing fruit for a while now but so far I have only picked one ripe one, the others are not ready yet but I know they will be very big! Some of them have even been ground level due to the weight.

In the meantime the plant continues to stretch, I don't know where it will go but I have had to manage to hold it up. Recently the male papaya that was holding it on one side fell off (I presume due to the weight) and I had to place several sticks tied together to keep the branch of the passion fruit up. I also put a rope from the front window to the back window to give it more place to hold on and I even tied it to the roof and it keeps getting tangled in the leaves of the coconut tree hahaha I really don't know what to do but as long as it is comfortable and gives me fruits, I have no complaints.

To the right is where the plant is born, in the center in front was the papaya tree and in the background the rope that I placed from one window to the other, you can also see that it is climbing to the roof.

Parte interna. | Inner part.

The only question I have is what follows after the harvest, I know that these plants live between 3 and 5 years but as the previous one after flowering dried up, I wonder if I can prune it when it finishes bearing fruit this time. If anyone knows about this I would appreciate it if you could leave me a comment answering my doubt.

Well dear readers, I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to tell you about this not so small plant (although for me they are all my little ones), I'm really surprised that it's been almost 1 year since my plant sprouted and now it's so big!

Wow!
