Some Days, I'd Rather Just Keep it Simple!

I sat down this morning with the usual thoughts in my head..."what am I going to explore and write about, today?"

There were definitely a variety of possible candidates, but as I was mulling that over — and actually feeling a bit bored by the whole idea of writing about something "deep and meaningful" — nature provided my answer:

I looked up, and this little family of three had stopped in for a morning snack in our back yard, no more than 15 paces away.

It was a reminder that sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is simply to let our brains go slack.

Life is usually pretty complicated and often stressful... and perhaps we put undue pressure on ourselves to "accomplish" something with our time, all the time.

Strange as it might sound, I "gave myself permission" to just forget about trying to put together some kind of meaningful message... and instead I just sat and watched the deer family, while sipping my coffee.

Sunchronized deer butts!

It was also a poignant reminder of how important just appreciating the simple things in life can be.

At the end of their 10-minute visit, I has a much better attitude about my day, overall! And decided that office work and eBay will keep till later... and instead I would spend most of the day working in the yard.

Hello!

I also like the way it felt like *"the right answer" about what to write came all by itself, without my having to force anything.

In it's own way, this WAS "Natural Medicine!"

Thanks for sharing in the moment with me, and I hope you are having a beautiful — and relaxing — day!

The more connected you are to nature, the more 'common sense' you seem to find within yourself...(I find).

I find that to be true, too. Planting (and growing) things is also close to my best kind of "meditation." At least, it's very peaceful and I feel better at the end of the day.

Yes, that was a special treat... they don't often come so close to the house when they are babies... although the adults in spring will come right up and eat our tulips!

A cheerful heart can be a natural medicine to our body.

Very true words... a positive attitude, and living from a place of gratitude.

Well, thank you for saying that! I don't do many "short posts" like this, but this little family seemed worthy.

I hear you there!!!! There's freedom in simplicity and letting go perfection too. These photos are just too gorgeous! Is that lavender? Amazing colours.

Hey there @riverflows, yes that's lavender! It actually surrounds our backyard labyrinth that we built about 8 years ago; it has 100 lavender plants around it with pieces of rose quartz under each plant and a large rose quartz crystal buried at the center. It is one of our "healing spaces."

Wow, wow, wow! What a beauty in front of you!!! 😍

Yes, that's life. That's why they always say, 'take time to smell the roses.' 😍

It's a lot of fun to just stop and look at what's around us! Thankfully, we have a pretty good sized yard, and there's a greenbelt nearby, so we get quite a few backyard visitors.

Nowadays, somewhat, it seems that 'let our brains go slack' is the only way to be aware that we are actually 'living entities'. ;)

Agreed! Too much intensity and too many demands that we "should care" about this cause or that; this political issue or that... as someone pointed out on a different post, we spend so much "in our heads" that we almost forget that we have bodies.

That was a nice experience to have. We don't have deer families dropping by for breakfast in our backyard, but I noticed that there are more birds hanging out in the tree in front of our house. They really cheer me up in the morning with their bird sounds. :)

Whatever else we may be thinking and feeling about our various lockdowns, I think nature — on a big scale — is doing better as a result of the Humans not being OUT THERE being stressed and intense as much as usual. I remember seeing some of those photos from northern India where they could see the Himalayas for the first time in 50 years, as the pollution lifted. That HAS to be good for the natural world!

100% agreed. This might be the 'invisible hand' of nature doing its thing to stop these pesky humans from destroying everything. I haven't seen that news about the Himalayas being visible again. I will look for it. I grew up in a place where I can see two mountains. It's a wonderful thing to have - priceless! :)
