A Bright Yellow Disc Appeared In The Sky

IMG_1370.JPG

This winter I've been clever enough to push the snow from the driveway a bit further into the middle of the backyard. A couple of years ago, there was simply no room for all of it in our property lot. That snow is the sort of light powdery stuff that isn't too difficult to move. Perhaps I'll shovel that even further. I really love it when you can get your cardio without having to leave your property.

This is as bright as the day gets at this time of the year. The maximum solar angle is about 6 degrees above horizon. What that also means is the weather is completely dominated by the prevailing winds. If the skies are clear and the air is frigid, the extremely weak sun does practically nothing to warm the air. February is clearly lighter but equally cold. March is very different: -25 C at night is not unheard of even in late March but the sun will not allow such low temperatures during the day.
