Ice drift on the Vologda river

avatar

Many times I saw ice drifts on large rivers of the North-West: Sukhona, Yug and Northern Dvina, but I have never seen ice drifts on the Vologda River.

The river itself, flowing through the regional center, is much smaller in width of the Sukhona or Dvina.

The ice drift was very slow, with long stops of ice and a slow rise in the water level.

In some places, open areas of water formed.

But the movement of the ice itself is very difficult to catch. I missed it.

Ice masses on the Vologda River are not formed as much as on large rivers, and therefore the main movement of ice can pass in a few minutes.

Catching such a natural phenomenon on this river is just luck. This year she turned her back on me.

In general, I got pictures that reflect the beginning of the ice drift.

It's impossible to catch everything...

But this year I also managed to shoot the ice drift on the Sukhona!

And this small river (Vologda), it turns out, can also cause problems!

Now the level in the Vologda River has risen so much that it has already flooded a cottage village and several summer cottage communities.

There are floods here too.
