Courtyard spaces of Sokol. Forest Depot
I like to explore urban courtyards in stages, by microdistrict, in blocks. Sokol is ideal for this type of study, and it's doing well with the names of the districts.

The Forest Depot microdistrict is also located in the zarechnaya part of the city.

It is so called because of the large timber industry located on the banks of the Sukhona River.

Here, as in the whole of Sokol, there are barrack quarters, as well as a private sector with ordinary huts.

There are a lot of abandoned houses.

There are very gloomy places where there is no street lighting, or dead-end courtyards where almost no one lives.

But the gloom is manifested only by the realization of the very fact that in fact there are no people in such places.

But I still had thoughts that if something happened, it would be useless to cry for help.

I didn't go to Sokol for a long time because of rumors and stereotypes about dangerous areas in view of the contingent living in barracks, but everything turned out to be very quiet.

All the stereotypes were dispelled last year, when I went to these places through the dugouts.

Sokol is quite a cozy and kind city.

Yes, there are a lot of dilapidated barracks...but Vologda also has them in other cities.

By the way, about the snow cover: these are the consequences of the very snowfall that stuck and froze, leaving such beauty for almost three weeks!

I was just waiting for such conditions for photographing yards in Sokol – snow, frost, winter, snowdrifts.

I liked this neighborhood more than the previous one.

Everything is explained by the weather conditions and the atmosphere.
You certainly captured the vibe of the buildings with the light and shadows. The snow gives many of them an eerie look.
