Urach Waterfall

The Urach waterfall is just 2 km outside the village of Bad Urach in the Maintal (Main Valley). The water comes from a spring on the edge of the Swabian Alb and then plunges 37m into a limestone level. It´s a pretty impressive waterfall and I did not expect something like this in germany, when I first visited it.

In winter it can get so cold there that the waterfall freezes. Last happened in 2017

Der Urach-Wasserfall liegt nur 2 km außerhalb des Dorfes Bad Urach im Maintal. Das Wasser kommt aus einer Quelle am Rande der Schwäbischen Alb und stürzt dann 37 m auf eine Kalktuffstufe. Es ist ein ziemlich beeindruckender Wasserfall und ich habe so etwas in Deutschland nicht erwartet, als ich ihn zum ersten Mal besuchte.

Im winter kann es dort so kalt werden dass der Wasserfall gefriert. Zuletzt so passiert im Jahr 2017.

I like it when the water looked frozen like that. It looks surreal. Ops, you incidentally also froze those people!😄

Thanks. It´s due to the long exposure. But these falls indeed can freeze in winter and it looks incredible.
