My Death Valley muse, Lisa Del Toro! - 2020

Happy weekend to all of you! It feels later than it really is, probably because I fit so damn much in to this day. @vermillionfox and I are enjoying an unexpected night to ourselves while @guthrie is having a sleep over with friends. @tarotbyfergus and I played a few game of BRAWL at @caffetto, and I was able to finish another round of edits at home. We started Kingdom, on Netflix. After our disappointment with The Witcher, this has been a pleasant surprise, so we’re looking forward to getting in another episode of two.

I have some new work to share. New work, from a very old shoot. Two years ago [nearly], my long time Latina friend and tattoo artist and I, traveled to the middle of no where in Death Valley for a shoot. She apparently booked this “amazing location” through a generic version of AirBnB. It was my last shoot of an exhausting three weeks on the road. I was happy to be almost done, but even happier to be shooting with Lisa. I was up for anything, and anything was indeed what I’d get.

We stopped along the way, catching some sand dunes, edges of desert cliffs and photographed a traditional Mexican outfit, then continued onward towards our unknown destination. After hours of driving, nearly out of gas, we found a creepy commune of sorts. The owners had built the entire place out of scrap and junk. An unsettling “Hills Have Eyes” feeling came over us, and we quickly got set up, shot another concept inspired by mourning of Mexican women, then promptly got the fuck out of Death Valley!

This was one of my favorite shoots of the year, with one of my all time favorite people. I was even more happy I lived to tell the story and share this shoot on the blockchain. There were some real achievements from a lighting and photography perspective as well, and I’m very proud of how these turned out. I’m going to wrap this up and watch a zombie movie now, but thanks for continuing to support all my art here on Steemit.
