Hive Stock Images | TREES: Sections, Stumps, Shapes, Shadows, Perspectives

avatar

Trees are magnificent beings, vast organisms which reach above and below ground and evade capture by lens. They never ask for identification or check your temperature. They simply offer whatever they have to whoever wishes to use or misuse it: fruit and nuts, shade and shelter, wood for fire and building, nests and hollows for homes.

Trees are amazing and although I can't get enough of them, I find it rather difficult to photograph them in a satisfactory manner and I'm still working it out! But I reckon I've taken enough photographs of trees over the past few years to put a collection together for the HSI library.

Here you will find sections of trees, views of trees, shadows of trees, shapes of trees, stumps of trees. But TREE itself - that Nurturer of Nature, nowhere to be seen and yet everywhere - aha, that is the mystery!

21 Photos of tree-like subjects :D. Each image has been sized to a width of 2000px at 72dpi.

Whoa... you generously give away stock images for Hivers? I can't believe I didn't know about this. This is epic.

(I wonder if including a 'free stock images' link as a signature in your comments would be too spammy/over-the-top? Because this is a really kind thing to offer. Hmmm. There must be some other way to spread the word.)

And some of those trees are definitely... gnarly :)

Thanks :)...It's a nice way of using photos that would otherwise collect dust and is also incentive to take more. Besides, my posts on HSI do pretty well.

There are some HSI banners here for spreading the word :)...a signature in some comments may be an idea - eg one per post. I might consider it for a week or two and see how it goes, but generally it's true I would've considered it a bit spammy to put in comments.

Gnarly and old indeed :P

It's lovely, and I could see how you'd rock in HSI, thanks for the link.

Banners seem like a good tool for word-spreading, and I love that you'd consider a one-comment-per-post approach, that's a great way around the spammy-ness issue I was foreseeing. Even cooler that you're so 'up for experiments', that can sometimes be a rare trait.

Anyway, kudos again on this endeavor. 😁
