Walang sangit is a common pest that damages rice grains. Walang stinks damage the plants when they reach the flowering stage until they are fully matured. The damage this causes causes the rice to change color, calcify and the grain becomes hollow. The destructive mechanism is sucking in the grain that is filling. Walang stinks will smell as a defense mechanism from predators or other nuisance creatures. The smell that is released is also to attract other stink bugs (Rahmawati, 2012).source
