The Leuser Ecosystem - The lungs of the world that need our attention

Welcome back to my personal blog. This time I will provide a little information about the Leuser ecosystem area, which I have previously visited in several places in the area. Hopefully we can both learn about the ecosystem which is known as the "lungs of the world".

The Leuser ecosystem stretches from two provinces, namely Aceh and North Sumatra provinces. This area covers about 2.6 million hectares. It is estimated that 70% of this area is divided into two parts of Aceh province and the remaining 30% is in North Sumatra province. This area is filled with various kinds of biodiversity. Be it animals or plants. This area has been recognized by the world as a natural wealth heritage that is the lungs of the world today.

This ecosystem area is very beneficial for the survival of all living things, both humans and animals. own plants. The most popular of this area is inhabited by 4 key animals endemic to Indonesia. Namely the Sumatran elephant, Sumatran orangutan, Sumatran tiger and Sumatran rhino. They live side by side which we cannot find in any belqhan world. Of course we are very proud of what we have now coexisting in the Leuser Ecosystem. Not to mention the other living wealth that is not exposed who live and live in it.

Although this area means a lot to the community and other living creatures, this area remains the main target of poachers and illegal loggers who deliberately carry out their actions in the Leuser ecosystem. With a very large area, the government is automatically unable to monitor all corners of the forest. Not to mention the illegal and legal mining industry that officials deliberately work for their personal gain. I once attended a seminar with the theme "Leuser ecosystem area". From the seminar, I can conclude that there are very few areas of the Leuser ecosystem that have not been touched by the hands of naughty humans who are inhabited by various kinds of animals and other plant species.

Therefore, many people have realized that the threat to the Leuser ecosystem area is indeed very large, therefore the government and non-governmental organizations are always trying to protect the area in order to avoid all existing threats. Even now there is a forest patrol team assigned to enter the forest area and guard the area for 14 days and after that it is replaced by another team. However, this effort is not very effective considering that the Leuser ecosystem is very large and the terrain is very diverse to traverse. Therefore, the Leuser ecosystem is the responsibility of all of us. These are the lungs of the world that we must protect. If we don't care about this last forest who will protect it. Hopefully this forest will continue to be sustainable, both the plants and animals in it so that they can still be seen and enjoyed their natural products in the future.

I took all these moments when I visited the Trumon area, South Aceh district, Indonesia. One of the areas included in the Leuser ecosystem.
