Insight to the Word: A Righteous Man

Genesis 6:9

9 This is the account of Noah and his family.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

A Righteous Man

While everyone in those days lived recklessly, God found that Noah still worshipped, obeyed, and depended upon him.

  • "Blameless among the people of his time" makes it clear that he was not influenced by the immorality that surrounded him. Because he was a righteous man with a deep and holy respect for God and a bold resistance to popular opinion and behaviour, Noah found favour with God (Heb. 11:7, Gen 7:1).

  • Noah's right standing with God was the result of God's grace-his undeserved favour- and Noah's faith in God. Salvation today is also the result of God's mercy and undeserved favour. We received it only by faith, demonstrated by a sincere effort to follow God and avoid sin. Hebrew 11:7 states that Noah "became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith."

  • The new testaments also states that"a preacher of righteousness" (2Peter 2:5). This must be the constant testimony of anyone who speaks for God.

Thanks for reading and stay blessed.

Thank you for the message. Noah is a great example to every believer.

What is also true of Noah. He was also saved by his faith. Some believers tend to think that God saved differently in the Old Testament. This can be seen in Hebrews 11 that you mentioned. Every time the verse started "through faith*.

Thanks for writing.
