Our longing for connection

As more parts of the world, including my part of the world in Australia, are clamping down on social gatherings, and enforcing more social distancing requirements, I'm reminded of the deepest longing in each one of us for belonging and connection. We were made for connection, and in these tough times where social isolation and social distancing is demanded, that longing for connection is enhanced.

I'm noticing a deeper longing to connect with old friends and family during these difficult times, even if that means just a phone call. Our God exists in relationship, and He created us in His image to exist in relationship too. So let us think of those around us in these tough times who could do with a phone call or text.

I also came across this prayer on the Bible app the other day that is very fitting in these circumstances.

"Dear God,

Being alone is hard. We were created for community, not confinement.

But we’re grateful that no matter how alone we may feel, You never leave or forsake us. And, we’re grateful for technology that helps us stay in touch with each other.

Today, please remind us that this time of social distancing and isolation will not last forever.

Give us the strength to endure this difficult season, and deepen our connection with You and Your people.

Empower us with an extra dose of Your love, peace, hope and joy, because we need it. Remind us of Your promises, and please heal our land.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

I’m sure your mother really appreciates being able to spend some quality time with you, although I know you must miss your wife and son. But thank God that we have the technology to at least video chat with your loved ones.

@nextgen622 Amidst all this craziness and the partial lockdown here, I feel it keenly too.

That's why I am still on Hive, after a short hiatus during the transition from the Steem to the Hive blockchain.

Let's pray for one another <3

Amen. It’s a good time to spend more time with God and pray for one another during these times.
I hope things aren’t as bad for you in Singapore, and hope it doesn’t impact on your wedding preparations too much.

Since having fellowship with one another is a KEY, we should by all means relate with one other. Reading posts from our brethren and sharing our ideas to me is part of fellowship.

Lets keep the fire burning.
