Greetings Brothers and Sisters.

We are looking at Proverbs 5:1-14. It's long, but it deals with one theme.

It starts again with the Father instructing the son.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell. Lest you ponder her path of life— Her ways are unstable; You do not know them. Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth. Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house, Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one; Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner; And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed, And say: “How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction! I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! I was on the verge of total ruin, In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”
Proverbs 5:1‭-‬14 NKJV

Verses 2-6 warns against the immoral woman that must be avoided at all costs. A woman like this is very tempting to a young man or any man for that matter. But he should stay away. He should guard against her tempting words, looks and actions. A man that guards himself would not even look. Like Joseph he will flee from her.

A note for woman also to see how this woman is described. This show a virtues woman to guard herself to not act and dress in a way that will turn you into a seducer.

Verses 7-14 describe the price you will pay for infidelity or if are promiscuous. It shows how that moment of sin will lead to destruction. It will lead to bitter regret but then it's too late. It may also lead to public shame. In the end you will know you made a big mistake to not listening to God and live according to His law.

David had to bear God's punishment for murdering a husband to get his wife, Batsheba. Their child was dead with birth. It all started by David watching her bath.

Men and woman guard yourselves, guard your eyes and look away. Don't entertain any impure thoughts.

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
I Corinthians 6:18 NKJV
