Adagio Black Tea - Orange

The Big Box of Tea that I received last week included not just a Berry Creme Compote and Irish Stout Tea, but a few other flavours as well. The one that I tried today is named, simply, Orange. Not orange pekoe, which is more a type of tea leaf, but simply orange, meaning orange flavoured.

Yep. Orange labeled tea.

Adagio teas are not the cheapest teas in the aisle; they're definitely a top shelf tea, but they're also definitely worth it. These are not teas comprised solely of leaf-grindings; their flavours are achieved through the addition of fruits, mints, chocolates, or whatever they need to add flavour to their concoction. They're not just adding oils; they're adding the actual ingredient. There is definitely a quality to be enjoyed here.

I did my very best to steep this tea to their instructions: 1 teaspoon of tea steeped for 3 minutes. You'll notice my pretty pink and white silicon tea diffuser; stainless steel diffusers often have nickel in them which I'm severely allergic to. I've got a few of these diffusers in various shapes, colours, and forms, and I continue to marvel at human ingenuity.

Verdict: they weren't kidding, it definitely tasted like orange. It's a neat tea that comes pre-sweetened. It was neither too heavy nor too bitter and made a rather nice after-lunch tea. This is the type of tea that I would enjoy for an afternoon tea-time with a small side of sliced fruit. I'm thinking this might be what I do tomorrow!

My niece and husband are big into teas @wwwiebe , and as I play caregiver for him when she must be away (indeed I used to live with them as such) I've experienced many exotic (to me) teas.
Not that I drank any mind you, but the aromas coming from those stiff, brittle, curly dark colored things that looked like twigs in some cases, made my mouth water.
I'm only just heard about a "Nickel Allergy" which I find puzzling.
Not that I disbelieve it, just puzzling how one could be or become allergic to a metal.
Great post Victor

Yep, allergic to both nickel and gold. Gold. I discovered an allergy to something several years back when I started wearing reading glasses; my face broke out and swole up like John Merrick, and the only change was the glasses. I went to an allergist who did a weeklong "patch test" (they smacked a patch full of various allergens onto my back which I had to wear for an entire week - I really need to make a post about that). The result was proof positive of a nickel and gold allergy, and further turns out the rims had nickel in them which effed me right up.

Dear jesu, I hate to think of that kind of allergy. In my mind, an allergy could only be to something organic, some substance you've ingested, like peanuts or food or medicines.
But I do know there is a lot I DON'T know ha ha ha... be well Victor @wwwiebe

I’m going to check it out. Awesome to see another tea lover. Haven’t made it to top shelf teas yet. But maybe this will be my first and new favorite. What is your number one recommendation.

Hey, nice to meet you!

I haven't found Adagio teas anywhere except their website (they can be found on amazon as well, but I personally prefer to order directly from them). I've really enjoyed their "Earl Grey Bravo" in the past, but think I might try their "Earl Grey Moonlight" soon - it looks to be the same, except creamier, and I really enjoy the Berry Cream that I just received.

Thanks for the wisdom. Does the Earl grey pack a punch as far as caffeine?
