14 - Thoughts of education
What do i think about education?
Education i understand is something too important in any person... it is what, from my perspective, teaches us the true development of societies.
But i'm not talking about the education that most people think... which includes having finished school, high school, having three master's degrees, plus two postgraduate degrees... no, for me education goes beyond a degree... it's how you behave, how you develop, how you live in everyday life, how you communicate.
Education is everything, that's why i feel (or at least in my country) that education in schools and at home should be different... not everyone is interested in knowing the nationality, full name, family, blood group and work of all literary authors, or are we interested in knowing the vectorial logarithm of the moon when the sun turns it? i don´t think so... that's what the specializations are for, if i want to be an astronaut, i study all the mathematics and necessary aspects for it.
I feel that in the schools what they have to teach is how to survive the day to day... because there are many that just finish school and don't go to the university and this doesn't mean that they are not intelligent or that they don't have a future (and honestly when i graduated from school i felt that i didn't know anything, just a kid who wasn´t prepared to real life)... they should teach us how to cook, how to eat healthy, to recycle, to know all the religions so that we can choose one of them, personal finances, to read correctly, to write coherently and without bad ortography or mistakes, to learn another language, to know a little about physics, biology, sociology, philosophy, to love art and music, to be able to defend themselves in the street... but instead they try so hard to make us memorize all the elements of the periodic table and what they are for, to learn calculations that we may never use as derivatives, to memorize the bible to the letter and incite us to blindly trust i one and only religion without asking and without criticizing. They do not incite us to be leaders, they incite us to be followers.
They force us to memorize an immense amount of content that is not at all important for our development... that if we take out the most important, we can create much more interactive and creative classes without the need to reach monotony. To form thinking, critical, healthy and free people.

¿Qué creo de la educación?
La educación entiendo que es algo demasiado importante en cualquier persona... es lo que, desde mi perspectiva, nos enseña el verdadero desarrollo de las sociedades.
Pero no hablo de la educación que la mayoría piensa... que incluye haber terminado la escuela, la secundaria, tener tres maestrías, más dos postgrados... no, para mi la educación va mas allá de un título... es cómo te comportas, como te desenvuelves, como vives en la cotidianidad, como te comunicas.
La educación lo es todo, por eso siento (o por lo menos en mi país) la educación en las escuelas y en las casas debe ser diferente... no a todos les interesa saber la nacionalidad, nombre entero, familia, grupo sanguineo y obras de todos los autores literarios, ni nos interesa saber el logaritmo vectorial de la luna cuando le gira el sol... para eso están las especializaciones, si quiero ser astronauta, pues estudio todas las matemáticas y aspectos necesarios.
Siento que en las escuelas lo que tienen que enseñar es como poder sobrevivir al día a día... porque hay muchos que apenas terminan la escuela y no van a la universidad y esto no quiere decir que no sean inteligentes ni que no tengan futuro (y sinceramente cuando yo me gradué del colegio sentía que no sabia nada)... nos deberían enseñar a cocinar, como comer saludables, a reciclar, a conocer todas las religiones para poder elegir una de ellas, finanzas personales, a leer correctamente, a redactar con coherencia y sin faltas ortográficas, a aprender otro idioma, a saber un poco sobre física, biología, sociología, filosofía, a amar el arte y la música, a poder defenderse en la calle... pero en cambio se esfuerzan tanto por hacernos memorizar todas los elementos de la tabla periódica y para que sirven, a aprender cálculos que posiblemente nunca vayamos a utilizar como derivadas, a memorizarnos la biblia al pie de la letra y nos incitan a confiar ciegamente sin preguntar y sin criticar. No nos incitan a ser líderes, nos incitan a ser seguidores.
Nos obligan a memorizar una cantidad inmensa de contenido que no es del todo importante para nuestro desenvolvimiento... que si sacamos lo más importante, podemos crear clases mucho mas interactivas sin necesidad de llegar a la monotonía. Formar personas pensantes, críticas, saludables y libres.

Me encanto tu post, y es muy cierto lo que dices...todo el sistema educativo debe cambiar, nosotros debemos hacer que cambie. Pero como tu bien lo dijiste, no quieren lideres... quieren personas seguidoras, que no se hagan preguntas, ni se cuestionen nada de la existencia, ni de nosotros mismos. Que genial leerte. El cambio empieza por nosotros mismos.

This made me laugh seriously. I am meant to finish school this year or so but because I knew that I am not ready to face life and I know nothing yet, I decided to cross from Polytechnic (college) to University so that the number of years I stay in the school will increase with the thought that by then I would be prepared 😂😂😅
Well... Nowadays to learn about life you have to go out on the streets and take a few hits, unfortunately education in schools does not prepare us for this.
Yeah that's the truth. I was just a chicken and was not prepared to face life.

Completamente de acuerdo contigo, la educación actualmente y me atrevo a decir que en casi todo el mundo entero esta dedicada a formar seres sin ambiciones de ver mas alla de lo que a simple vista le muestran, el sistem educativo mundial necesita una reestructuración en pro al desarrollo personal.
Así mismo es, espero que poco a poco vayamos cambiando esto.

Yes, but they should change the focus... and teach things that we do need to survive and defend ourselves. Most of the time is lost.

Whoah! Seriously, you nailed it. You have clearly spoken what is on my mind. You see, I came across a blog post on education by one of our fellow blog challenge folk, he said something way related to this and it is nice to know many others are thinking way beyond - even when I thought I was the only one. The feeling that comes when you are not alone.
In schools, mostly high schools, they teach with the mindset that you are going off to college thereby neglecting so many areas of life that is supposed to be focused on. They practically don't teach survival in both mentally, financially and life in general itself. The closest they could get is the syllabus which is full of shitty stuffs over and over the years - always same and not changing.

You have said it all my friend; I could remember back in the days when I was still in school, there was one particular teacher we were all afraid of; he was our Literature teacher , he made us study poems and made sure we must be able to recite it of hand by heart, it was so frustrating as we were unable to study for other teacher's subject although it really helped me alot because even though you wake me up from the dream I could still recite the poem 😅😂, for me it was partially OK but what about those that don't see or take it the way I had ? Nice write up it's indeed a #thoughtfuldailypost 👍
I understand you perfectly... in my case i had a teacher who forced us to write and learn the biography of all the literary artists of SPAIN... (I am Dominican) All their lifes, their work, their birth... don't ask me why, because i have no idea...

Concuerdo contigo,amiga. La educación es lo más importante y actualmente el sistema educativo necesita ser renovado. Te recomiendo ver un documental en YouTube titulado "Un crimen llamado educación" de Jürgen Klaric, un excelente investigador y conferencista. Por si no lo haz visto, el documental trata acerca de esos patrones obsoletos e inútiles que siguen las escuelas.
Uyyy, se oye super interesante, lo voy a buscar... de casualidad tienes el sitio donde lo viste? Lo busqué rápidamente en Netflix y no lo tienen. Y en Youtube tienen una conferencia de 15 minutos.

I've said this many times; we need less vanity lessons, and more "real world" lessons. How do I change my flat tire, how do I balance my checkbook, or... how do I grow my own food. Sometimes, we humans are too, 'big for our britches'

You are right! There are many things so basic, that we are not taught to do... sometimes i feel that they fill us with air.

Me gustó mucho tu reflexión, coincido con ella en todo. Recientemente estuve leyendo sobre un modelo de enseñanza llamado "Educación Biocentrica", parte de la esencia de aprender haciendo y en conexión con el entorno. Más allá de aprender fórmulas de memorias como mencionas se trata de "entender" y desarrollar la comprensión que te lleve a integrar los conocimientos en tu día a día. En este tipo de educación también se reconoce que no todos los individuos son iguales y por tanto no pueden ser entubados en el mismo programa de aprendizaje, se resaltan los talentos y capacidades de cada quien y lo mejor de todo es que son bienvenidas las artes, los trabajos manuales, entre otras actividades que no son incluidas en la educación tradicional, o al menos no con tanta preponderancia.
Sueño que este modelo de educación se concrete en un futuro cercano en todo el mundo 🌍✨

Ese modelo de enseñanza me parece estupendo! Deberían enseñarnos a ser muchos más críticos, a analizar las situaciones y a buscar el por qué de las cosas... Ojalá que puedan cambiar el modelo de educación de todo el mundo, yo siento que la mayoría de los problemas que nos topamos hoy en día son por falta de este tipo de educación.

Tienes mucha razón. Hay cosas que en la vida son importantes saber y deberían enseñar y no lo hacen. Así mismo hay muchas cosas que no hace falta saber ya que nunca lo usamos.
Sin embargo, ciertas cosas deberíamos aprender en casa, como los valores y buenas costumbres.
Sii, la educación empieza en la casa y es la más importante... tenemos que tener mucho cuidado siempre con lo que decimos a los nenes, son como una esponja.
La educación es un tema muy polémico, y las sociedades tienden a manipular según intereses propios... Dejando a un lado ese aspecto, considero que la verdadera educación es aquella donde los valores y principios humanos son los pilares fundamentales que todo ser humano debe poseer para un mejor futuro tanto personal como en sociedad... La vida misma es una escuela, y es vital que como padres seamos protagonistas de la educación de nuestros hijos.. Excelente publicación.. Felicitaciones..

Una reflexión necesaria y muy pertinente sobre todo en estos tiempos en los que la escuela debe revisar sus contenidos y estrategias que ya están obsoletos. Coincido contigo en que el sistema debe cambiar y la educación debe formar para la vida, con contenidos sobre inteligencia emocional y educación financiera, por ejemplo, formar seres críticos y no simples depósitos de un conocimiento que a futuro no le servirá de mucho por no decir de nada.
