Nature Haiku

I have always enjoyed writing the occasional haiku ever since I learned of that style of poetry several decades ago. Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines haiku as:

an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively also : a poem in this form usually having a seasonal reference [source]

What I did was to take some of my photos and digital art and pair them with a haiku that I composed based on the theme of the photo. To help those who are visually-challenged and use software to read the screen, I will place the text of the haiku beneath each picture, below, so they can enjoy the poems, too.

First up is a photo I took of a tree branch on a very foggy morning. Hardly anything at all was visible beyond the branch, which was a very cool sight! It was, indeed, like the fog was slowly engulfing everything in its path. Perhaps "engulfing" might have been a better word than "obscuring," I dunno, but "obscuring" was what I originally wrote.

the fog is coming
obscuring the world slowly
i think i am next

The next photo is wicked-cool. It was partway through autumn, with some leaves remaining on some trees while other trees were bare as skeletons in the dense fog. I equated the branches to spoons, stirring the "soup" of the fog.

mother nature cooks,
stirring with branches of trees,
fog, thick as pea soup

Next is one of my digital artworks, a circular wreath of leaves. I like incense and the smell of burning botanical essences, so this haiku celebrates the purifying smoke of sage.

fragrant and burning
billowing clouds of sweetness
sage to purify

Lastly, here is a photo taken at night with my cellphone. The shot was edited from its original nighttime black-and-white hues into pastel shades with my PaintShopPro™ software. I like the streak of cloud that is hanging below the Moon.
