How Do You feel about Life?

FlipFlops.png

I want to know a song that defines
how you feel about Life.

I choose "PEPPER" by the Butthole Surfers, because life is a mix of horror and passion, swinging like a pendulum from one side to the other, endlessly. We have moments of abject hopelessness, moments of pure bliss, and everything in-between.

Some will die in hot pursuit
In fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Sometimes if I am really upset about something, I play this song on auto-repeat at high volume for a while until I start feeling better. It helps.

So, what song defines
how you feel about Life?

Life changes a lot from one moment to the next for this post, this song is how I feel right now about life:

Everything's Alright
Ian Gillan, Yvonne Elliman, ...

Try not to get worried, try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you, oh.
Don't you know
Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine.
And we want you to sleep well tonight.
Let the world turn without you tonight.
If we try, we'll get by, so forget all about us tonight....

From the movie Jesus Christ Superstar - August 15, 1973

Mine is a bit of a silly song. It's a song about how we are kick ass in our heads. How awesome we are in our minds, but the reality is we are just a normal person.

*"You're a spandex butterfly, FLY!"

Wait, what?

"Danny, don't you know you're cool as f#ck on the inside?"

"You're just going through an awkward phase from 12 to 29"

"Danny, don't you know that everyone feels weird on the inside?"

"Danny, don't you know?"

Hmmmmm. My stock answer would be "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones

When all it was you and me...>

But this being Monday morning I think I'm going with Stevie Ray Vaughn "Life by the Drop".

It isn't much of a video. It was published by his brother Jimmy a year and a half after he died. No known videos of a live performance.

Gentle quiet ballet to reminisce...

Lyrics:
In the twilight glow I see them
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again
Love is like a dyin' ember
Only memories remain
Through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Some day when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In a land that knows no partin'
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Now my hair has turned to silver
All my life I've loved in vain
I can see her star in heaven
Blue eyes crying in the rain

Life seems like a constant battle for me.
War is not what is like that in the distant past.
Enemies and allies now unseen.
I am of an old world of the renaissance and antiquity.
Perhaps Shakespearean, Symphonic, definitely dramatic.

“In my eyes, indisposed
In disguises no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
The sun in my disgrace”

These words are no comfort but they validated my childhood and sense of total hopelessness that I often feel and the person nihilism and misanthropy I still feel to this day.

This has been with me for a VERY long time (it came out in 1992) and I keep returning to it as a sort of "personal anthem:"

The Cure: "To Wish Impossible Things"

Hi 2thekittygirl. Here is my contribution from a young lady who is not only beautiful, but has a beautiful voice. This is how life goes sometimes:

In our wildest moments,
we can be the greatest
or we can be the worst of all

I guess there are a lot of saying about that question!

Right now it sucks, ask me again in 10 minutes!

Life is what you make it!

Just one day at a time!

There are many more but this is the one I think describes "How Do You Feel About Life?"

Life is like a bowl of Jello! You never know which way it is going to bounce next!

Just my two cents! LOL
