Azaleas on lockdown

In this area, we have been under a strong advisory from the authorities to stay home, only go out for the essentials, medical care, and such. A news report was issued yesterday that in many areas of the state people were not adhering to those guidelines and COVID-19 cases are on the rise. As such, an order was issued by the Governor, going into effect today, that makes it a law that people are to stay home and only go out for essentials. The first infraction makes perpetrators subject to a $400 fine. A loud alarm and accompanying message blasted across our phones this afternoon right before the 5:00 PM order went into force.

So, thanks to a few selfish individuals, everyone has to suffer. 😒 Those are probably the same selfish people who have been buying and hoarding all the toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, and other sundries during this whole affair. 😠

I've been conserving on toilet paper all I could, as the shelves have been completely, totally empty for the past month in this area. Thankfully, one of the three stores I visited today had a small amount on the shelf, and I was able to snag a package of it! It's not my regular brand/style, but I am not complaining, and grateful for what I got! It was also a package of 'Mega'-sized rolls, which will not fit into the holder in this old house, but hey, I can live with a roll perched on the counter next to the toilet! No complaints!

I had to chuckle, though, as we are only supposed to be going out for the essentials, and that was the very name on this toilet paper —Charmin Essentials! LOL! I was also thrilled that another store I visited today actually had a half-dozen jugs of bleach, so I was able to get one of those, too! Yesssssss!!!

When I returned home, there was a note from one of the neighbors on the door asking for my help with something. So, I put away the groceries I bought, washed my hands really well, and headed over to her place.

While I was there, we took a peek at the beautiful azalea bushes that were in full-bloom at her house. There was once a long line of bushes just like this on my property, but they've gotten scraggly and are not blooming so well as this any more. If I had more knowledge about gardening and the energy I had thirty or forty years ago, I could probably get out there and bring mine back into stunning shape as these! I wondered, too, if these bushes might have actually been grown from cuttings of the bushes on the property here — it is highly likely that my parents shared cuttings with the neighbors who once lived in the house where my neighbor now lives.

While we were out there, I saw a bunny rabbit in her yard! Do you see it in the following photo? Look closely, as it is there... 😉

After looking at the azaleas and listening to the plans my neighbor had for her yard, we went inside so I could give her the help she needed. Then, I bid her farewell and headed back home. It was a very productive day!

 😊

Hi @thekittygirl. I wish I could see bunnies and beautiful flowers! It's so cold here still and not a bud is on a tree. The Azaleas are some of my absolute favorites ever since I was younger working in flower shop.🙂

By the way I saw that someone asked some questions about powering down on steem and the connection to hive. I think they are stopping steem and want to go to hive only I'm not sure. Do we leave the wallet as is or is there some kind of transfer to do? I just don't get it at all.

I don't understand this. I also was wondering if it is wrong of me to post on both. Am I being a trader? I was wondering if I should just go to hive and avoid the controversy. I was taking advantage of the double rewards but now it feels kind of weird since everyone seems to be against Justin.

If you have time to give me some advice it would be great but I understand if you don't in this crazy time.🙂

Some people are staying on Steem, some are moving to Hive, some are planning to be active on both. It is totally your choice which you decide to do! I don't think any of the options is being a traitor, as everyone must do what is best for themselves. Currently, I am still posting on both and will likely continue to do so, as long as it is profitable.

Anyone planning to remain on Steem should probably keep their wallet intact there, so they have more SteemPower (SP), because the more SP you have, the bigger your upvotes on others' posts and the bigger your 'curation rewards' are when you support others. In fact, anyone who is not planning to do anything on HIVE might consider selling their HIVE and buying STEEM with it.

Anyone planning to move to Hive and not do much on Steem would probably benefit from selling the STEEM and buying HIVE with it. I wrote a post about doing just that, for those interested: https://peakd.com/hive-114105/@thekittygirl/so-you-want-to-exchange-your-steem-for-hive

Anyone wishing to be active on both chains can decide what is best for them as far as the wallets go. The wallets can be left, as is, on both chains, or one can be reduced in favor of the other, depending on where you want the most influence!

BY THE WAY: Any rewards which you have "PoweredUp" into SteemPower (SP) or HivePower (HP) must be "PoweredDown" before selling. PoweringDown STEEM POWER (SP) will convert it back to liquid (spendable) STEEM over a period of 13 weeks. So, if you have 1300 SP to PowerDown, you will get 100 STEEM each week for it, over the course of the 13 weeks.

Hi. Lovely azaleas. I spotted the bunny. How nice for upcoming Easter weekend.

That's a hefty fine; but as we know, some need it in order to just do the right thing. Don't understand why. If you have to stay at home with the possibility of no income, this would surely hurt the pocket unnecessarily.

I read your reply below to a comment. How nice of you to explain her options for operating on either Steem/Hive. This is a blog worthy reply.

Thanks for sharing your day with the beautiful flowers.

Where's the bunny? LOL! There it is, I see it now! Is it a Jack Rabbit? Beautiful Azaleas!
I've been stocked-up with supplies prior to the crisis, so it was just a matter of adding more. But it is not hoarding, it is just that I've always been prepped for emergencies (which learned from stackers, most of who are preppers).
Be safe and take care, my sweet sis @thekittygirl 🥰🌺🤙

It's crazy who would have thought and said that the toilet paper would be a rare thing these days!
Beautiful colors the azaleas, I like it.
Take care of yourself, be very careful and stay safe.
Big Hugs
