Autumn Vista

One of the best things about living near the mountains is the scenery that is available, year round! There are rolling hills that give way to the taller mountains in the distance, and when everything is bedecked with fall colors, it can be really stunning!

These photos were made from a hilltop, looking back to the northeast and north. The three small mountains in the above shot are called the "Three Sisters" and are a lovely grouping. The fall colors in the foreground are so pretty! In the background is a long ridge of mountain peaks that stretch for many miles, separating South Carolina from North Carolina.

The adorable little mountain in the above shot is called Tater Hill ("tater" being the way many locals pronounce "potato"). To the left of Tater Hill is Fox Squirrel Ridge, so named because there were once many ruddy-colored Fox Squirrels (Sciurus niger) in the area.

Beautiful photos, @thekittygirl! Rolling hills are a smoothing sight for me. There are mountain ranges that surround the cities near where I live, and enjoy the mountain scene like you do!
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely evening, and take care, my sweet friend take care 🥰🌺🤙

That's just stunning! I like to vacation in the NC Smokies, and it's amazing any time of the year. It must be great to have that nearby all the time.

What a beautiful time of year! We have moved on to the winter phase already, here in MN. I do miss those luxurious colors.

On the west coast of Canada I have quite the collection of mountain ranges but covered almost entirely of Conifer trees rather than the deciduous types that change color with the season. There are a few scattered deciduous like Alder and Poplar growing wild. It's often a green Christmas, "Say what? $54 for a Christmas tree?"
