The Resilience Of Trees
Today is #treetuesday inspired by @old-guy-photos.
After the snow storm the trees around the property were laden with snow. Last night we had wonderful warm air flowing around and wind from the Southwest. A lot of the snow has disappeared and a smattering of green lawn is showing.
This morning the pine and spruce were standing strong and proud free from the snow.
The emerald cedars at the North corner are shaped in such a way the snow doesn’t cling to them too much. Also the cone shape makes a great hiding place for a bird’s nest. The grackles made a nest in them this spring.
Tree are resilient and most spring back to their original shape after a storm has passed. Of course excess snow can cause some trees to break or uproot and fall over.
It’s best not to knock heavy snow off the trees as that can do more damage. If you think the snow is too heavy on a special tree. you can gently remove it from branches in an upward motion.
A little wet snow on a tree isn’t always a bad thing. It’s nature’s way of pruning away broken twigs or dead branches.

You have a lot of snow. Using a snowblower on a gravel driveway seems like a safety risk. Please take care and don't point that thing at the lovely birds and people (I doubt the smart ones stick around for that).
It’s not bad with the small snowblower. Have been thinking of getting the driveway paved next spring - will be hefty cost.
Before Hubby got the snowblower we had a neighbour snowblow with his big tractor - there were rocks flying everywhere. One even pinged the glass in the door.
Never having lived with snow, we always find it enchanting and beautiful, never stop to think of the sludge or problems encountered along the way.
Nature pruning the tree, a lovely way of wording weaker branches succumbing under the weight of snow. Now clearing that driveway when heavy snows fall must be a chore no one raises their hand first to do.
Green with white snow makes such a pretty setting offset against red buildings giving the festive feeling all round @redheadpei

Thanks so much Joan @joanstewart. 💕 I’m happy you find the snow enchanting. It does make the landscape beautiful and most folks here want to see some at Christmas.
If there too much snow it can be a problem clearing the driveway but we are used to it and most people are equipped to remove it either with a shovel or snowblower.
Once in a lifetime it would be a lovely experience a white Christmas.

Sounds like snow on trees can be pretty dangerous at times. Has there been any accidents with trees falling over due to heavy snow?
