Another Wintry Wednesday Walk

A couple of weeks ago I published a Wednesday walk of everything in my yard in upstate New York covered in ice. Boy was it both a beautiful and a treacherous day. The trees were groaning, cracking and shedding limbs under the weight of the ice every thing was encased in.

The next day I went out and shot a bunch more photos. Everything was still covered in ice, but somehow looked very different from the day before. Here are some of those.

Some of my favorite shots are of the view at my feet. This one tickles me fancy. When I look at it I feel like my eyes are being massaged. Those colors!

I've posted a number of shots of this maple tree in Wednesday Walks - it's right outside my front door. My picture does not begin to capture the splendor it presented to me on this day. Try to enhance it for yourselves. I find tipping my screen toward me helps it pop.

Every square foot of my yard, and for as far as I could see, was covered with shards of ice that looked exactly like shards of glass. I couldn't get a photo to sparkle like my world did that day but I do like this photo, another of the wondrous things I often see at my feet.

The day just got more and more magnificent as it progressed. Adding to the visual radiance, the ice on everything was crackling as it froze back up after semi-thawing in the sun. It was a very beautiful sound, tinkling and magical. I wish you could have been there. I'm really glad I was.

My final photo is of just a few days ago.

I take all my photos with my android phone. I certainly am impressed by the images a good camera can take of the surface of the moon, and sorely wish I could do that too, but I love this one of the recent wolf moon. In pfutzing with this photo, I learned the power potential of black and white.

Thank you for coming along on my walks.
I value your company highly.

Here is my post of photos from the day before most of these were shot.

This is my entry to @tattodjay's fabulous #wednesdaywalk contest, where every one shows off their best strut. Check them out here and then come show us some of the glory of your days.

Thank you! I'm just a bit north of NYC. You? I've lived in the southern tier, the north country and central NY too.

West side of Owasco lake, 270 years in the family. I wrote a 31 sentence story somewhat about it a couple days ago. It was a really good story. Futuristic but all too real.

I like futuristic things ;)
I'll give it a read in the morning when my neurons are firing at full capacity.
Have a great night! :)

Great photos. I've never seen ice in little glass shards like that.

I hadn't either. It was quite weird. And even though it was everywhere on the ground, I couldn't really see where it had fallen from the trees.

Shards of glass, shards of ice... a big old tree that defies your efforts to capture it in all its magnificence...what you do show us is about as much magnificence as we can handle, so it's all good! Fabulous Photos!!!

I think about getting myself a real camera, then remember that @goat-girlz got one, made one post with it and gave us SPECTACULAR photos, but we haven't heard from her since. Do you have any other contact with her? I miss her!

Winter is no doubt a beautiful season. It is intimidating, but if one is well protected from the cold, one can appreciate unique phenomena and beauty.
Your photographs are superb

I'm glad that you enjoyed your walk, and your pictures are beautiful captures of what is obviously a very cold day. I'm also glad I'm not in that cold! :) It's supposed to be 39 degrees F overnight next Tuesday or Wednesday where I live in the south, and that's WAY colder than I would like!

I'm highly allergic to cold weather!

I love the images of the frosted trees. Still feels like the holidays on your photos. Wish it was vacation all over again.

Lovely captures on your walk @owasco. Ice and snow can be treacherous underfoot but make beautiful scenery.

Love the black and white of the moon.

Nature can sure create such beautiful scenes as it did with the glazing of ice shown in your photos.
Must have been magical (and rather treacherous for moving around!) The sound of the ice crackling too!
We always enjoyed the chinkling of the ice when it was in the last days of breaking up on the lakes!
thanks for sharing some of your beautiful winter scenes!

You got some really cool pics! Congrats on daring to go out in the cold and take them! The last one looks like a scene from a scary movie.
