A wandering gecko // Un gecko errante
The following photos are of a Common House Gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus) this little one was in a corner of my room so I took it carefully and took it to the garden to a safe place to release it.
He stayed very still, I guess it was out of fear, I decided to take him out of my house since my cats like to devour them lol it is very common to find these geckos in houses, they are not aggressive but they are fast enough to move and they tend to be very suspicious and fearful, thanks to this their survival is successful.
They are appreciated in some parts as they help with certain pests such as flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, scorpions, termites, moths, crickets etc.

They are usually found in places near light bulbs, warm places and where there is a large congregation of insects, their eyes are brown and striped and they have four fingers on each leg which are equipped with small suction cups to adhere well to ceilings, walls or any other surface they wish to climb.
A peculiarity they have is that when they feel in danger they voluntarily release their tail, even it stays moving for a few seconds to distract the predator and thus giving the gecko the opportunity to escape, it is a very curious and striking animal, usually they are nocturnal although from time to time they can be seen during the day although this is not very common.
I took it carefully so as not to hurt him, surprisingly he stayed quite still, when I was outside my house I took the opportunity to take a few captures while he remained still, after a few moments I deposited him on top of a log and i gave him a few soft touches to run away.

This is a cute little gecko but a little different to the ones I'm used to. I used to live in the far north of Australia, the tropical regions and we always had geckos...Everywhere! They looked a little different, sort of fatter and a little lighter in colour and their nosed were more rounded than pointy like this one.
We don't have these up north .. only the one on TV
