You Only Live Once - A Hive Creative Contest
When Did We Become Tame?
Walking around dazed, battered and confused, sitting for a moment in time reflecting on the reality that you only live once, what has kept you company from young through to golden years, fascinated, scared and even amazed you?
It must be the moon, I remember vividly lying in bed when the moon moved over with the trees outside wildly waving their arms in the wind, thinking as a child, is there a witch on a broom that could fly up to the window.
Movement and sound made eerie mystical images triggering fear, enough to dive under the sheet and hide.
Where did our imagination go, adventures to unknown destinations, all in the mind of course of sailing the seas or walking on the moon, thinking others may live up there. Always a light side and dark side.
As a teenager all starry eyed, full of adventure, bonding ideas of moon travel never ceased, taking on more elaborate tantalizing detail.
Imagine sitting up there looking back to see our world, yes discussions with thought evoking chemicals experiencing life, elated all experiences were positively enhancing life, compared to some experiencing bummer's.
One constant in life experience was the waxing and waning of the moon overhead, season changes, growing older, growing up children around campfires showing them the stars, explaining the seas on the moon, how the moon effects the tides down here on earth.
Weaving stories of old into fresh young minds as our parents had taught us, how to use the night skies for navigation. Entities of the night sky reveal flickers of hope and direction.
No matter what we think we are primal, use it or lose it, protect yourself and family from harm.
Perhaps one day when I am "space dust" I will get to sit on the edge of the moon smile back and say what a ride this has been.
Crammed with fun, imagination, experience, hardships, testing one to the outer reaches of sanity/insanity, all in all You Only Live Once", keep on dancing in the moonlight, walking in fear of the unknown never got us anywhere!
In bondage, still level 4 with no sign of a cigarettes or beer any time soon (I hope I'm not down under and didn't realize it happened), while draconian rulings hang around, keep dreaming! Act my Age, I don't know how to, I've never been this age before!

Hanging in there, thanks. Still technically have a stay-at-home order from the state, but retail stores were allowed to open with restrictions this past Monday. Our state seems to be doing better than nearby states, but we'll see how it goes. Sending lots of good vibes & hugs your way.
Good to hear your region is doing slightly better, people are obviously taking heed and obeying ruling in place. Our city is one of four city areas with higher infections, not sure how long this economic crippling situation will remain. Take care!

We most definitely miss a lot if we don't take time to stop and enjoy, as children we would lay on the lawn with my Dad teaching us about the stars, something I did with the boys years later. One wonders if parents have time to do such things of late, or whether they even have a clear enough view of the night sky. Friday again, have a good one!
Ohh yeah I remember doing that laying on the lawn looking up both at night for the stars and even during the day watching the different cloud formations :)
I do wonder if that happens much these days everyone is to busy to stop and enjoy the small things
Too many children left on couches playing with electronic devices, learning the outdoors and living in nature, surviving on what is available, yup sadly not too much being taught along that vein anymore.
Ohh yes thats a pet peeve of mine including our grandchildren when we move closer I plan to try and get them out for walks and away from their devices

Moon has many faces, last two photos were taken two days ago at 22h38 on night shot and 07h21 on morning shot with earths shadow across the face.

Much like you I don't get out tripod, it is literally walk and shoot so these compact little cameras have become a boon.
Oh yeah, I remember a time when I never had an interest in cameras and now I can't live without them lol. In have even divorced the cell phone and Marian operates it full time.
My husband always had good cameras, I closely guard this one... "it's mine"

When we are children we always imagine without difficulty. As adults, fear limits our imagination, but it is always there, waiting for us to let it out lol
