Mental Wellbeing Walk In Nature

Enjoy Surroundings Mulling Thoughts Over

Getting the dogs and ourselves out moving to the four-beat rhythm (yes dogs speed), haring out at the start to pee on every tree, slowing down to a sauntering pace, sniffing out who else visited the park over the past week. Woolly-necked stork in the river fishing out brunch with an eye on any unusual movement in the surroundings.

You hear the call of the fish eagles up high, drifting between upper thermals hoping they will come down for a snap shot, alas these have been few and far between, when walking dogs on leads little time to handle a camera simultaneously.

Today photography will be lower down, more human...

A mid-summer sunny morning let me show you what is happening on the park today. Baseball players on one park, Cricketers on the other, Bowlers are always on the greens, I sometimes contemplate whether they sleep under the trees waiting for sunrise (oh I will have to take photo's of them waving a ball down the lawn, like that ball fully understands where it should go).

Social Ambiance In Surroundings

Thinking about it the baseball players and cricketers prone to demonstrate different performance, the dance of life by cricketers when getting a person out. While baseball players urging the runner with gusto, drop that bat and run like a bat out of hell, key factor in successful base running is speed.

6004Cricket.JPG

What we take home with us, we no longer play in the sun, find exhilaration in a simple walk tugged by two dogs on leads, watch in envy as the younger folk set up for for a day of enjoyment, sweating, slipping, sliding, running. While we totter along, knowing brisk walking between anything may have adverse affects to all enjoying the surroundings, via huffing, puffing, groaning and grinding older limbs with the odd fart to clear the air.

5999Baseball.JPG

Know when to gracefully bow out, enjoy life within the realms of coping, yes this thing called age sneaks up on you, catching you unaware taking you by surprise sports you enjoyed playing yesterday, you now sit on the sidelines and watch.

Learning anything in life comes with patience and opportunity, first is a longer game plan (long to-do lists can take a toll on your emotional well-being), second is acknowledge your achievements, prepare to seize opportunities as soon as they arrive, speed today is a key factor with opportunities.

Taking walks normally affords us time to assess emotions, remove stress, it's healthy, fun watching others on the park. No matter where we walk we enjoy nature, here is a palm tree in flower, soon full of berries for all to enjoy (another form of round thing to chase for birds and monkeys).

That thing called age is but a number, but the bodily parts tells the true story not so! Lovely taking a walk in such beautiful surroundings:)

Agree, age is but a number, blame the body parts that tell different story.

Ah- the dance of life. Beautifully said.

It's true you must take "mental health" breaks, and often. Lest the darkness creeps in, ever hungry and ever selfish...

Taking breaks are normally on demand by the dog or chores that need completing, however early morning and late afternoons always a must for me to be out. Thanks for visiting and kind words.

Much beauty where you walked with the dogs Joan. 💕

It’s no fun getting old but the alternative is even worse. 😊

Our weekly walk is always entertaining, I am looking forward to cooler weather and a beach walk again soon. Definitely a case of keeping active, alternative is much worse.

Great park pictures, @joanstewart! It always amazes me that it’s summer elsewhere in the world when we have -22 Celsius temperatures here!

I could quite honestly live in a fridge for a day or two at the moment @jayna our summer has been excessively hot this time round, perhaps I'm just feeling it more of late.

Lovely to see the stork in the water and people playing cricket in the field!
I hear you about aging!

Know when to gracefully bow out

Thanks for sharing your walk in the park with your furry friends! Where is some pictures of your dogs?

Oh the dog photo's will arrive soon, normally on walks we are pulled around with little time to do photography. I do however have some of them around the garden :)

Ten years ago you could walk dogs off of lead making the whole experience much more fun for them and us humans.

What a fun read with beautiful sights, and I especially love the Woolly-necked stork. Taking walks has so many benefits but as you pointed out, age does sneak up on you, so my walks have gotten shorter. But hey, at least we are still walking! LOL!
