La semana pasada me tocó acompañar a mi hermana a un centro médico con el objetivo de realizarse un estudio gástrico especializado, mientras esperábamos que la atendieran, caminé por el centro para conocerlo, entre las cosas que observé es que el sitio, tiene diversos carteles de señalización, de tal forma los pacientes, personal del salud y mantenimiento, puedan evitar accidentes o se puedan ubicar fácilmente, por ejemplo, los carteles de señalización muestran las vías de escapes de cada piso, estos carteles están ubicados en sitios estratégicos en cada piso. Lo maravilloso, es que los carteles tienen imagen gráfica y textos, la imagen gráfica resulta bastante útil para los que no saben leer.
Este tipo de carteles de señalización son imprescindibles, en ambientes en donde asisten múltiples personas, como en los centros educativos, bancos, oficinas, sitios de trabajos, restaurants. De hecho, para poder otorgar un permiso para que un negocio comience a operar debe cumplir con la ubicación en el establecimiento dé carteles de señalización, pueden negar el permiso si dichos carteles no están ubicados en los lugares correspondientes.
Last week I had to accompany my sister to a medical center in order to have a specialized gastric study, while we were waiting to be attended, I walked around the center to know it, among the things I observed is that the site has several signage signs, so that patients, health and maintenance personnel can avoid accidents or can be easily located, for example, the signage signs show the escape routes of each floor, these signs are located in strategic places on each floor. The wonderful thing is that the signs have graphic image and text, the graphic image is quite useful for those who cannot read.
This type of signage is essential in environments where multiple people attend, such as educational centers, banks, offices, workplaces, restaurants. In fact, in order to grant a permit for a business to start operating it must comply with the location in the establishment of signage signs, they can deny the permit if such signs are not located in the appropriate places.
Para los carteles de señalización se debe tomar en cuenta, no solo el personal que labora sino las personas que puedan asistir al sitio, de tal forma que si llegase a ocurrir algún incendio, cualquier persona pueda romper el vidrio y tomar el extintor.

Me llamó mucho la atención este cartel "En este servicio está prohibido el consumo de mandarina", pensaba, será que la mandarina le hace daño a los pacientes con alguna patología gástrica, o que una forma de decir que no se puede comer en la unidad. Me daba pena preguntarle a los médicos o enfermeras, ya que estaban muy ocupados con sus pacientes.
Me tocó ir tres veces en una semana a acompañar a mi hermana, y seguía con la inquietud ante dicho cartel, le pregunté a un familiar de un paciente si sabía el motivo de haber colocado el cartel con ese mensaje, me respondió: "Es que en la unidad hay una enfermera que es alérgica a la mandarina", me sorprendió el motivo y a la vez no le creí del todo.
Seguía con la inquietud de los motivos de la existencia del cartel, llegó el día en que mi hermana le harían el estudio, cuando el doctor realizó el estudio, salió de quirófano a comentarme los resultados obtenidos del estudio; cuando terminó le pregunté si le podía hacer una pregunta que no tenía que ver con mi hermana, a lo cual respondió que sí, le hice la pregunta si sabía el motivo de haber colocado el cartel con ese mensaje "En este servicio está prohibido el consumo de mandarina", me respondió, es la unidad de gastro hay una enfermera que es alérgica a los cítricos, en especial a la mandarina, con solo percibir el spray cuando se pela la mandarina, le da una asfixia, hasta traqueotomía le han practicado, ha estado en terapia intensiva en varias ocasiones producto de estar expuesta a la mandarina.
Es impresionante, el cartel genera impacto, hasta tal punto que en ese servicio, no he visto a las personas comer ningún tipo de alimento, creo que el cartel se ha asumido para no consumir ningún tipo de alimento en la unidad, lo cual me parece adecuado.

I had to go three times in one week to accompany my sister, and I was still worried about that sign, I asked a relative of a patient if he knew the reason for having placed the sign with that message, he replied: "It is that in the unit there is a nurse who is allergic to tangerine", I was surprised by the reason and at the same time I did not believe him at all.
I was still worried about the reasons for the existence of the sign, the day came when my sister was to undergo the study, when the doctor performed the study, he came out of the operating room to tell me the results of the study; When he finished I asked him if I could ask him a question that did not have to do with my sister, to which he answered yes, I asked him if he knew the reason for having placed the sign with that message "In this service the consumption of tangerine is forbidden", he answered me, In the gastro unit there is a nurse who is allergic to citrus fruits, especially tangerines, just by perceiving the spray when peeling tangerines, she suffocates, she has even had a tracheotomy, she has been in intensive care on several occasions as a result of being exposed to tangerines.
It is impressive, the poster generates impact, to such an extent that in that service, I have not seen people eating any type of food, I believe that the poster has been assumed not to consume any type of food in the unit, which I think is appropriate.
Reflexión / Reflection
Luego de esta experiencia, considero fundamental prestar atención a los carteles expuestos en cualquier sitio, en especial, en los centros médicos, ya que pueden evitar emergencias o incidentes no adecuados, bien sea en la instalaciones o en una persona.
After this experience, I consider it essential to pay attention to the signs posted in any place, especially in medical centers, since they can prevent emergencies or inappropriate incidents, either in the facility or in a person.
