TRACK OF THE WEEK! (2020 ROUND 2) - Share your TUNES and WIN the post earnings! (Last weeks winner @wesphilbin received 8.428 STEEM)

Copy of Copy of track of the day.png

Welcome to the "Track of the Day Contest!" Some of you may remember "way back when" I used to run this weekly music contest. At the time it was called "track of the day". Honestly, I always did it because I loved discovering what other people listened to and increasing my own personal playlist from all the shares, so for that reason - I have decided to kick it off again!

text16.png

2020 ROUND 2 (Closes 11am UTC 23rd Jan)

WHAT YOU WIN

After 7 days I will decide which track I like the most! The winning track selected (by me) will win all the liquid earnings that this post accumulates and the confirmation of funds transfer will be shared in the following round.

HOW TO ENTER

All you have to do is share a link in the comments to a song that you are really enjoying at the moment - whether it is new or old it does not matter and neither does the music genre... whether you have loved it your entire life or just for a day is irrelevant! just NO personal promo links please! And please do not look at MY track genre selection as a guide to what you should or should not share... I have an incredibly eclectic taste in music and will no doubt continue to shock most of you as the weekly rounds unfold haha!

text16.png

Right! With the logistics out the way... let's get to it! Here is my track selection for this round... which is of no consequence really haha - but what fun would it be if I didn't get to share with you all as well!

text16.png

AND THE WINNER OF THE LAST ROUND...

@WESPHILBIN!

YOUR 8.428 STEEM HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED

Untitled.png

I just absolutely loved the genre combination in this track! VERY cool!!!! Great share Wes - thank you for participating! Hope to see you again this round!

text16.png

OK - NOW IT'S YOUR TURN...

LET'S HEAR THOSE TRACKS PEEPS!

❤❤❤

Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

You're very welcome @jaynie.
I have a non-connected question. When I use the tag for Powerhousecreatives, does anyone see it? Am I still being upvoted or whatever, even though y'all decided I wasn't fit to be in the server?

I use the tag almost daily. I just do not understand the thousands of tags and how to use the right ones for my original material to get the best results.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hey Jerry :)

Apologies for the delayed response... busy wading through my comments now.

To answer your question, yes your posts are seen in our feed - I see them often myself, but no... they don't receive any community support as you are no longer a member.... and to clarify that... nobody removed you - you left :) and you are welcome back any time. Link at the foot of this post.

But as I recall (it's been a while, but I seem to recall there were either some requirements (hoop jumping) or someone deemed my posts weren't worthy?
Or was there a fee for membership?

So I clicked on your link, copied this from the welcome bot
@tsuseer, Welcome to Power House Creatives! :) You have landed at our "BUS STOP" which is one step away from joining the community - but we will require a couple of things from you before opening the door.

Firstly, please head over to the #community-guidelines channel to familiarise yourself with how we operate here and to see what is expected of you on a regular basis as a member.

In the #the-bus-stop channel, please drop a link to your latest post and confirm that you have FULLY read the guidelines, understand and accept them.

Once we have assessed your profile and it's content, we will then make a decision as to whether or not we feel you would be a good fit for our community and will either be allowed or denied access.

If and when you are granted access, as a new member, you will have limited access to the community, it's activities and support, but if you are consistent in following the guidelines and become a positive, active and engaging member that consistently produces quality content - then you will be granted full PHC access.

But when I went to the actual server, and clicked on 'the bus stop' it said I did not have permission.
Hop, skip and jump through another hoop

Just reading those guidelines, required daily upvotes on this and that... who would have time to mind their own stuff and create new, original material?

I just don't understand. I suppose I will just stop using the powerhousecreatives tag.

I just don't get it

It is actually really quite simple. There are only two required votes per day. the rest is all optional. :) Take your time... nobody gets it in the first five minutes. Give yourself some time to familiarise :)

Today I'll share something completely different. From Ukraine's X-Factor, 15 year old Helga singing Powerwolf - We Drink Your Blood.

If you don't understand a word they're saying, just skip to the 3:00 mark. 🤭

Often times you do not need to understand what they are saying, because the music, visuals, expression and emotional energy speak for themselves - This was DEFINITELY one of those cases.

OMG her VOICE!!!! and the way it transforms from almost operatic to the likes of the lead singer from Disturbed. This gave me TOTAL goosies!!!! LOVE IT! And you can see she is having an absolute an ABSOLUTE JOL (South African term for PARTY!)

Great share @trincowski!

Ps... when are we going to see you hop into PHC?!

Brilliantly orchestrated climaxes too. Crisp, clear and definitive beat... just the way I like it! Going to see if I can find this elsewhere so I can add it onto my playlist.

Great share! Super to see you hop on board to this contest again!

Hello lovely Lady J!
It has been too long.
We still have a couple more weeks of school summer holidays here. My little dude is starting school!!! I can't believe it!
He is at the age (my mental age), where farts, bums, poop are the funniest things ever. He came home from a friends place singing Fat bottom girls, and very impressed with himself. So... here is @littleblue's track

We then youtubed some old school classics.
Probably not my proudest parenting moment but definitely not my worst. Anyway... I thought he would like sir mix-a-lot, but watching back... it is not very PC... But it is true... I do like big butts... I can not lie!
So here it is #flashbackfriday

Baby got back

I have loved that since I was a kid - awesome blast from the past! - Going to add it to my playlist now. Amazing how many tunes we forget about in our old age haha!! Awesome shares!

Let Me start at the beginning. With a Home Town Rock n Roll band I grew up with. Drank many a cold beer ~ to & with ~ in the local Erie, PA. (USA) pubs. They had some fame and national air play in the 80's and 90s on radio & MTV's head bangers ball. More about them here. Dirty Looks Wiki

I love this weekly song post concept. Shout out to @jaynie for the contest. Win or not, it is really cool to see what others are listening to. My musical taste runs a wide range from this link to many others. It will be fun to post a few in the coming weeks. And I promise, just a comment or 2 & song link on the next weeks entry, lol.

I struggled for hours today on what song to post from Dirty Looks. And decided on this one. This whole Album, in my opinion Is their best.

So I will link the Album Title song, and If You like it, You are welcome to search out some others. Like track 3 "Only Tomorrow" or track 8 "Back To Marseilles" and even track 1 "Blue Tequila"

Hi Jaynie. I enjoy most music and like songs with a bluegrass sound. I’ve heard songs by Mac Wiseman all my life. Here he sings Kentucky with the music of the mandolin and dobro.

Days of my wild youth my friend.
Band of Gypsies, Peanutbutter Conspiracy, Staccato's and a few other locals to name a few were great inspirations, but I like almost all forms of music.
Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Santana, Black Sabbath, Ten Years After, T-Rex, Jethro Tull and many more are also favorites!
Soulfire is indeed a great Flames CD and there was a huge argument at some time about the Flames song "Useless Illusions" and a song by the "Moody Blues" called "Nights in White Satin"
All history now!

0

0.000
avatar

The Flames were very big, we lost most musicians to overseas market.

South Africa had some amazing musicians, Mango Groove, Rabbit, Johnny Clegg along with many other groups who plain and simply never always got onto stage due to apartheid laws. We went to concerts at Wits University one of the few venues where colour was allowed to mix freely for a night.

On rare occasion you would have bands come from other provinces, due to the problems faced many excellent bands in Cape Town were never heard of in Johannesburg, mixed bands never aired on local radio, you learned about many through LM-Radio normally.

Oh Yeah, the old LM radio was a big hit.I also used to enjoy the "Battle of the Bands" shows at the old Millpark showgrounds. Had a huge drunken party with Benny of the "Band of Gypsies" when they won the contest.
Good old days never to be repeated my friend.
Blessings!

Ha! I have a long history with the Millpark showgrounds Lady Joan. Wally, the caretakers son is a friend of mine to this day. As a youth I worked as an usher at a circus that was there, but was fired because I took a ride on one of their show horses hahaha.
But here was the catch. As a brand new army conscript the army Bedfords were waiting for us at the showgrounds and with a huge hangover from a farewell party the night before, I got into the wrong truck.
Said truck took me to a camp where I was not supposed to be and only two weeks later they found out who I was and where I was supposed to be!
As I said, a lot of history hahaha.
Blessings!

hello jaynie, I think this activity is great because I love music. It's hard to choose just one and I can't wait to put all the songs I like. By chance today I heard a song that was dedicated to me years ago by a great friend, with whom I have been in contact again thanks to a group of whatsapp, the first thing he did was remind me of this beautiful song, so I share it with all of you.

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

One of my all time favorite songs!

"Sweet Caroline" will always conjure up happy memories of my son's days in high school where it was played during halftime at football games as well as at the "Mom Prom!"

May God bless Neil Diamond as he deals with Parkinson's disease.

Btw, Neil Diamond celebrates his 78th birthday today, January 23rd!

Thank you Joan, I play several Bread/David Gates songs, but this is the only one on the keys, the others I play on guitar.
"Aubrey", "Everything I Own" are two of my favorites.
I really appreciate your comment @joanstewart

I think my all time favourite song Bread played was the song "If".

Wow, great walk down memory lane on weekly fun track of the week, I have heard some brilliant music introduced in here, definitely a rabbit hole to lose time in, along with memories by more familiar musicians.

Thank you Joan, I loved everything I ever heard that David Gates/Bread wrote and recorded.
I'll try to make some recording of the other two or three that I know (on guitar) but I hate posting that stuff to YouTube because I always get that copyright crap, and my experience with Dtube has not been stellar; I can't upload and have a LINK I can use to post in my blog, Dtube posts it automatically to my steemit account, even putting their tags, which limits what I can use.
I think I looked at Vimeo, but we'll see.
Thanks for the support and comment (and compliment) @joanstewart

Oh, I've been to many concerts! I saw Led Zeppelin live 6 times! They were my (and everyone else's) faves back then. I've seen Pink Floyd twice, and so many other well-known bands as well. I like UB40's stuff but I'm not that familiar with Rammstein.

The very first big concert I went to was Grand Funk Railroad in the 70s.

I've always thought music could change the world, but I'm not as hopeful of that happening anymore, sad to say.
