Do one thing every day that scares you.

"Do one thing every day that scares you."

I have always loved this quote! Although its precise origins seems to be a little bit of a grey area, this does not detract from the weight of it.

We all tend to get stuck into "comfort zones" and after years of living in such a space, they can literally kill ones courage and self confidence. Things that possibly used to come absolutely naturally to you, might fill you with fear now...

For me personally, I would relate this to public speaking and social situations which involve the unknown. These are an ongoing challenge for me that I have to work at daily. I have to talk to myself and calm myself down to a point of actually being able to do them... and the funny thing is, that when I was at school I had absolutely NO problems with public speaking or handling myself in large groups of people that I didn't know. In fact I won several awards for public speaking.

I suppose life changed that - and now, I have to work at re-building those strengths. We all have those "little things"...

Trying something "new" everyday, even if it scares you is a great way to work at that - slowly breaking those negative comfort zones and once again building confidence bit by bit... Just try it! - Even if it is simply taking a new route to work.

It is a process, but one step forward is better than standing still :)

❤❤❤

Until next time...

Everyday I take Grab Bike from work to go home.. and trust me, it's a scary ride indeed especially in this city although it is said that no matter how the bad the traffic is in Saigon, no vehicles hit one another

Public speaking and meeting new people I totally relate to, only in adulthood one seems to become self-conscience, whilst at school you shrugged it off.

Getting out of the comfort zone I agree, however doubt whether I will, so side-stepping this one to enjoying it as much as I can. Now grateful during lock-down having found my balance between the garden and my computer, weekly walks further afield still not quite what you saying, yes get out of that comfort zone and live!
