PowerHouseCreatives Contest | The hands that ROCKS the world & CRUSHES it away !

Last week it was all about our tootsies; and this week it's all about our hands.

Somehow, it just doesn't rhyme at all though it's part of our human body. How does one respond to such a statement: The world in our hands, is it really true; philosophically speaking it may be true decades ago but now, it's no longer a theory as we all have the world in our hands.

Be it a click of a button or a swipe up, left, right or down; we have the world just at our fingertips. The world is assessable to us 24/7/365 - even if we don't want it. We can't seemed to stay away from it because our entire body cells calls for it. We feed ourselves with the knowledge of the world and contribute to the worldwide web be it light or darkness.

Though with all the world in our hands, there is one thing that THIS WOLRD cannot satisfy and that is the hunger in our stomach. We will put a halt to the world in our hands so as we can concentrate on the one part in our human body. One that controls the physical and mental strength of any living person.

Thank goodness to that !

Even then, the world can never be far from us because as much as we want to rock THIS WORLD, we're also the ones to CRUSH IT down fiercely. We cannot tolerate the disturbance or turbulence of others to stay away from it. Is this what has become of us? Guess no one could ever answer that.

Nor can this lady that sits across me this morning when I was having breakfast. She speaks briefly to her friends, not that I could understand but all full concentration on the device in her hands. Fingers actively scrolling the smart phone as she sees the world in seconds and responds ever so slowly and softly to the conversation in front of her. With the world on her palm, why would she need actual physical friends, she might as well just sit by herself!

I know that is cruel but isn't that happening everywhere all the time. Such a scene is uncommon and totally unacceptable if you ask me. Are you one of those as well ? Be honest when you answer this question because you would also have the world in your hands if you're reading my post!

Since tomorrow is Sunday and is also the first Sunday in Lent, I'd prefer to have God Almighty & Mother Mary in my hands for a change. After all, there is a time of praises and confessions which we all could use once a while.

Care to join me ?

Your words are a call to reflection. Personally, I always try to avoid using my cell phone when I'm with friends. The idea is to enjoy myself with them and for that I need to pay attention to them.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes.. that is so true @eugelys
We need to appreciate them while they are there with us ..
Cos we would regret when they are gone and it's just the photos in our gallery that reminds us

I'll admit, I have my phone with me all the time. I do like to think that I can put it away when necessary, but I've found that I'm just not comfortable without it. It's strange.

I know what you mean.. I'm a hypocrite myself too when I was writing this post.
Though I tend to shut myself away from it because I believe there is much in life than the device that looks back at me

This was brilliantly done hon! REALLY! What a truth about today's world! We do indeed have the world at our finger tips, but at the same time.... we have lost so much!

Awesome entry!

Hi @jaynie.. I do wonder if we would compare what we have lost to what we have gained, which would be the winner ?
It does defer from each of us especially between those Baby Boomers and Generation X,Y Z and what else after that ..

I would definitely say that we have lost more. Sadly.

We advance in the world and win many battles but that same success leads us to lose the ground we have gained.

I'm not sure if what we've gained is far more important than what we've lost

Unfortunately young people have lost that which we call verbal communication, parents are more and more alone every day and not to mention grandparents.

yes ure so right about that..
That's why I always tell my boys that no devices when we're having dinner together and we must have family talk time. at first they complain, then they realised it's important for them too

I am not one of those. :) The only time I look at my phone is if it rings, or if I I need to find something online. The phone I have now, an LG, doesn't even bug me about texts that have come in. I only see them when I unlock it to see if I had gotten any texts during the day.

Now.. that's a good thing !
I'm so glad for you.. WE should have a time in between the entire day that our eyes are not fixed or listening to the beeping of the phone
