It's Feet for Days

One of the first few contests that were ever hosted by @jaynie and me when back in the days we were still known as the #steemitbloggers. This contest idea originated from @jaynie and as you all know, from the title, she has something for feet.
The Powerhousecreatives community has people scattered all over the world and so we have decided to create a photographic contest where the members will capture the “world at their feet” in the most CREATIVE way they can think of.

Two Feet

text16.png

My feet have never really inspired me, they’re just there and I’ve never really though about them much unless they had been injured or something. I learned in the Army that a soldier’s feet are the most important thing that he/she, has, and he/she has to take care of them. There were only “he’s” when I was in.

My feet have done well by me. They’ve never given me any problems at all, but now that I am older, the toenail on my left foot’s big toe tends to dig in and get ingrown some, and I first notice it at the gym when I’m running on the elliptical machine; it will start hurting.

I used to get pedicures from the lady that cuts my hair. She started it as a new way to earn some extra income and I’d always go along with her new services to help her out a bit. Anyway, she used to make fun of my feet and say they were the softest feet she ever felt, and we’d both laugh.

She stopped doing the pedicures after about 3 years, as her hands had begun to start bothering her and she couldn’t do it anymore. I haven’t looked into getting pedicures anywhere else, mostly because of the horror stories I’ve heard about serious infections sprouting up in customers of those places in the malls.

The photograph of my feet is taken in my home, on the hall rug. I really wanted to go to the beach and get a photo in the sand, but it’s been really chilly here the past few days.

As far as creativity goes, I thought my feet would look better on a rug than on tile, and besides, the tile is cold. I thought I had them in line with the lines on the rug but it’s obvious I’m a bit off the mark on that one.

My feet serve me as kind of a thermometer of my comfort. If my feet are cold, then I’m cold, even if it’s not really cold. If they are warm, chances are I’m feeling hot at that time.

All in all, I like my feet very much, and it’s really their fault that I haven’t paid as much attention to them as they’d like, because they’ve always been good and quiet, doing their job.

Just like that, two feet holding a strong oak. The passage of time has planted its roots deeper, so the nails are embodied, it is as if life claims space.
Greetings and blessings, @free-reign!

Thank you @zeleiracordero, they're still pretty strong and even still balance me fairly well, so I am grateful.

Greeting and blessings to you in return!

LOL, @zord189 said that we should grab the part that explained why we were all posting photos of our feet for the contest. I should have doctored it up a bit so it didn't seem like I was him, but I was posting exactly at the last minute of the contest. :) That's pretty funny!

Hey, @free-reign, you told me you wanted to get a picture with your feet on the beach. I realize you couldn't. You have nice feet. Why didn't you take a picture with your feet frozen? Ha ha ha... I'm glad to see your feet in this contest. They don't look like a soldier's feet. Kisses.

It's been a long, long time since they were a soldier's feet @antoniarhuiz. They also helped me to help a fellow soldier once, which I consider to have been their greatest achievement. :)

Haha @free-reign, the feet have it. The army was right about them being so important.

Funny you mentioned that ingrown big toe. I noticed mine started bothering me lately and I have to pay special attention to it when bathing.

I’ve never had a pedicure and have heard the horror stories about fungus infections.

Oh, I feel sorry for you now, and I hope it doesn't hurt as much as mine does. I have to keep up with it and get it out, or it could get worse I think. I think our toenails should be prohibited from ingrowing! :)

Did you mean to have the toenail removed? Mine seems to be okay if when I can feel it, I bathe it in a mixture of vinegar and soap and scape around it. Then it is okay for awhile.

I always make sure I cut across the toe nails with a straight edged toe nail clipper and not to cut them like my fingernails.

Yes, I force the clipper down into the pocket so I can trim the part that's hurting. Are you saying the vinegar and soap mixture makes the skin around the pocket more "flexible," making it easier to get at the nail? That would make it easier for me if that's what happens. What's the ratio of the vinegar and soap? Thanks!

This is just a method I devised - Put warm water in tub about 1/2 pail of water with good bunch of vinegar ( 2 cups) and squirt of soap to make suds.

Use a foot bath pan or sit on edge of bathtub and soak the feet awhile and then use nail file to dig around the toenails. Also a good time to use a pumice stone to scrap any callus or dead skin off feet. Try to lift a bit the edge of the nail that is ingrown rather than cut down but if your way gives you relief than that’s fine.

Toenails should be cut straight across and you would need a clipper with a straight cut not the curved ones used for fingernails.

That's nice of you getting a pedicure from the lady just to help her out and it does look well relaxed on that rug.

We've been friends for many years. One of her side things she once tried, was selling women's wigs, but I couldn't help her with that one. :)
