Music To Lift The Soul – (PowerHouseCreatives – Contest) – Come To Life

Music To Lift The Soul

Lord of the Rings – Sound of the Shire

I listen to this thirteen minute piece quite a bit when I’m writing, but at a lower level than if I were listening to the track with focus on the music instead of the writing. It’s really such a beautiful piece of music, soothing when played at a lower volume and sometimes spectacular when listening at higher volume.

If you’ve seen the films as I have, it is very nostalgic to hear the music and then be reminded of parts that had an impact on you. The trilogy has been a favorite of so many readers through the decades, and there were even groups of fans of the written words from the start, who used their imaginations to construct, in their mind’s eye, vivid descriptions Tolkien left to their own interpretation.

Personally, I think the Lord of The Rings films, all three, are the greatest cinematic treasures of all time. The people involved where perfect, from the director to the actors. And that soundtrack; I’m overwhelmed by its beauty as I turn up the volume and hear every single note as clearly as possible.

I love all forms of music, some better than others.

I think I got my taste for classical music at my school. When I was in 7th grade I had this teacher that played music from operas such as Carmen. I remember she also played Funeral March of a Marionette for us. She would lecture us on the music and then test us. I liked the class and the music, but not so much the teacher.

She had a booming voice and she would hide hankies within her clothing. We’d see her pull them out of her sleeves, or from her bosom area. She was also pretty mean. For example, if a kid messed up just a little bit, her booming voice would boom out, “Put your name on the board, you’re in detention!” She had zero patience.

Even with all that going on, I’m pretty sure that exposure, when I got to hear classical style music and the story behind it, it at least influenced my appreciation of it.

I haven’t seen any of the Hobbit films yet, but I’ve listened to some of the soundtrack. It seems pretty much the same music from LOTR with some additional different bits, which I think is both expected and good.

Anyway, the video I picked for this post is a nice one with a slide show of shots from the LOTR films, and should sound good to any LOTR fans who want to hear it again; reminisce, and enjoy the beauty that is this music of Howard Shore, a true genius.

Thank you! I just think every part of this is outstanding, and rivals any of the works of John Williams, another legendary composer!

Music was epic to suite the surroundings and story, movies were exceptionally well done!

Having read the Hobbit and LoTR Trilogy about three or four times over the years, both music and movies did justice to an epic author with great imagination.

We have Bo Hansson LP's, The Lord of the Rings and Magicians Hat will have to listen to them now as well, gentle music to caress the imagination.

So beautifully stated! I am so thankful that the project went to the best director, Peter Jackson, who created a masterpiece trilogy of the films, the soundtrack to Howard shore, as the music simply could not be more fitting, and the actors and actresses, perfect for their roles.

Ah the shire. Lord of the rings fan here and that is a classic. Can't wait for the Lord of the Rings TV show coming up soon.

Hmmm... a TV show based on LOTR sounds like they'll be expanding and creating new stories and situations that Tolkien never intended. I sure hope that, at the least they'd meet with the family and get their approval for taking the story off in other directions, which could easily turn into nothing more than a bastardization of the original if they aren't accepting of the family's guidance.

Oh the trilogy....a huge favorite of mine as well! Both written and on film, I could read and watch it over and over. The music was tremendous @free-reign, thanks for the reminder :)

Thanks for coming by to read my post! Same here, the trilogy has had a place in my heart from a young age. I could never have imagined that the film industry could get it so right. But they did a marvelous job with the films and the music, and I'm really grateful!

Ooo.. yes this sound track is amazing..
I think those who create music such as these are just talented.
Do you like the ones from Game of Thrones..
It's theme song is also one that I enjoy, hmm.. time to rewatch it again

I love all music and music like this is so full, with different instruments playing at different times, or together in harmony. The way the music's composed, the way certain chords melt our emotions - it's epic, really.

I've never watched Game of Thrones as I'm not a Netflix subscriber. I quit Netflix several years ago when they did their first rate hike. I'll find the theme song on youtube and give it a listen. :) Thanks for the suggestion!

I will agree that it is one of the greatest cinematic treasures of all time. The music moves me (in whole) as no other, albeit, I can pick pieces here and there, but, as a whole you are spot on.

If I die tomorrow, they will be playing Into the West at my funeral. Annie Lennox kills it and I get goosebumps at the haunting beauty of it. The movement, the tempo, the rolling ups and downs of the music, pulls me in, every single time.

A truly awesome choice of yours. Thank you and now I can thank a teacher for enlightening some 7th-grade punks who probably made her life hell. ;)

They could not have chosen a more perfect, beautiful location than New Zealand to do the filming.

Yes, I also find the music to be moving. When I sit down and put it on to do nothing but listen, it takes me on an incredible, emotion-filled journey every time. I listened to the Annie Lennox piece on your mention, and then I also listened to Enya's May It Be. I'm not having a funeral myself, but if I did, the song I'd have played, is Time to Say Goodbye.

Might this have been your 7th grade teacher? :)

Here's the song which I'm sure you know...

(I prefer the instrumental version and this is a great one), but I also like the vocal version with Bocelli and Sarah Brightman

We have also intended to buy the trilogy box pack to watch it, but will have to buy a TV first. Maybe some time in the future!
A very good choice here my friend.
Blessings!

I was thinking you'd like this, as I'm sure you know the story behind the story here, and what it really references. Instead of a TV, you might want to check on the HDMI projectors rather than a TV. I think the price of the projectors have come way down. Thanks for reading my post, and blessings to you and Marian!

Thank you for the kind advice and I will look into the HDMI projector issue.
Thank you also for the kind wishes to us.
Blessings also to you and yours!

It's lovely music indeed. I love the books and have read the hobbit and LOTR several times. Haven't seen the movies I'm afraid. Since I like to read the books straight through once I have forgotten them enough, I don't want to spoil that experience by watching the movies. LOTR is 1000% times better than anything JK Rowlings ever wrote. Nice post.
