Working from home is staying after COVID19, Do you have a home office?

HOME WORK AND VIDEO MEETINGS ARE STAYS, DUTCH RESEARCH READS
❤️
The Dutch and also me, my family, my kids and friends seem to adapt to the
NEW NORMAL
and limitations of the corona crisis Covid-19. According to researchers, some of those adjustments will be permanent, they are needed at least untill the end of 2020. And when we get a new outbreak in winter maybe longer. I hate to think about it but it might be a reality.

The Knowledge Institute interviewed a representative group of Dutch people at the end of March for the daily news and did it again a few weeks ago. This shows, among other things, that people are now more positive about working from home than at the beginning of the crisis.
Because the working from home was not the normal thing in a working life untill than.

And I totally agree, definitely in the beginning because I was so scared to catch the virus or contagious my parents and loved ones. And later because the firm said we all needed to work from home and only be in the office building when we had an appointment.
At one point the schools also closed.
Than the kids were home from school due to the pandemic and the working online was the new way of school education, all of us working from a new home improvised office and schooldesks became the new standard. And it was a challenge too, but a good one because I did a lot more work, sometimes in my robe I admitt but when we had meets, zooms or teams meetings. Than ofcourse I was dressed and present as if I was actually at the office like before covid.

The number of people working from home has declined somewhat since the start of the crisis. That was just over half of the workers and is now just under half. But the number of home workers who say they will continue to do this more often after the crisis has risen: from 25 percent two months ago to 45 percent now. Earlier, research by the ministery of employment and work also showed that a large majority do not want to give up their home workplace yet. And the school of my kids is debating the possibility of doing 4 day live schooling and 1 day online.
For me no problem cause I can be at home that day, but for other that might be a huge dilemma or problem.

Another keeper seems to be meeting remotely online and the time can vary from 7 am to 7 pm. The mass that expects to have more video conferencing after the crisis also rose, from just over 35 percent to about 60 percent. Of the people who use video conferencing, 55 percent consider this as productive as physical consultation, compared to 43 percent at the end of March.
So I think it will be a new thing in the second half of this covid effected year.

For now, we will just stay doing what we doing best. And for me, the combo was ok and of course we all had bad days and days where the virus came close in stories by people close, and those horrific stories I will never forget and I will try to stay safe. But due to the home work and all we are allowed to travel again and be adjusting to the new working from home, attick or bedroom, depending how many people are at home.

How was your time at home working?
Or the homeschooling?
And are you still in lockdown or not?

Let me know in the comments of you want.

I've been a 'work from home' employee for about the last three years, so I've been lucky in the sense that the changes haven't had a huge impact on me. The executive team has also recently had initial discussions about everyone moving to work from home exclusively. We'll need to see where that leads.

Its strange to deal with an new normal that is so different from the old one, and I miss the contact with collegues but we will see what the future holds for us soon

I'll definitivly work more from home permanently. Turns out most of the meetings I have can be perfectly done online and it's a huge time saver!! And that means more time to spend with my family. I enjoy that!

We have all gotten creative! I feel so fortunate that my kids all moved past their childhood and schooling just last year, as the challenges are so much greater for parents of young kids right now.

I work from home, and have not been into the office since March 5. When we get the word that it’s time to go back to the office, I think I will continue to work from home at least two or three days a week. Like you, I have been known to work in my jammies! Normally I dress for the day the same as I used to, but sometimes it’s really nice to just make coffee and sit at my desk and launch into the day!

I've been working from home for 4 years now so nothing has really changed for me work wise, I do not like the amount of zoom meetings I have to have now, i used to still have to go into meetings sometimes, which gave me a reason to get out lol

Also I'm so lazy now so I don't even use the video because I don't want to get dressed

When I was actually still working for a living I ALWAYS had a home office and an online business. I could afford to lose a couple hundred on line (if need be) because of the deduction I could take on my taxes.

The job is gone but the office lingers on :) A pretty darn comfortable place for me.

My brother is travelling right now. For important business reasons. Grandchildren business :) His report about the airports and plane capacity is shocking. ALL of his business travel has been replaced by FaceTime. He's mostly fine with that.

I don't think I'd buy any airline stock right now...

Thanks for a great report on what's happening right now. I appreciate it.

Hi tom sorry for the late reply we have new cases here again so the rules are more strickt again and we have to dsee what happens but we are allowed to travel so we are going to my parents and see, we will be travelling by car so... and the working from home will be the new normal for at least the next three months.
Dont you miss the old normal? And the fear of getting it, i am ... if we could only see into the future

I traveled by car to my ancestral home :) during what turned out to be a big surge in cases in several places I went through. I took every possible precaution (mask, hand sanitizer, gloves) and made it through just fine.

I really don't miss much about the old normal except my occasional hikes with my friend Erv. I'm really fine with being alone with myself.

I really don't fear the virus, I'll either get it or I won't. I take all the reasonable precautions and then it's out of my control.

We are not under lockdown here any more, but face masks are required in many shops, especially the small ones. Some merchandise is still in short supply (toilet paper, dish soap, etc.) but beginning to slowly reappear.

I work from home, but I live alone and I wanted to work from home for a long time, so I am happy to be here. Our company has not made any promises that we can stay home forever, but I hope I don't ever have to go back. I love it !
